The very first time I heard Phoebe Snow sing the poetry man.I was hooked and captivated by her beautiful voice I back then was about 17 years old.Always was and will be #1.And what a beautiful soul she has! And what unselfish Love she had for her beautiful daughter Valerie Rose. She could of had it all Materialistically. But, she knew that the one and only thing that mattered most to her was her beautiful loving daughter. That's A Mother the love she had for her Valerie Rose.Mothers Day is this Sunday,5-11-2014.And Phoebe Snow is what Mothers Day is All About!Like all the billions of Mothers out there. Its All About Love. She's with her Valerie Rose, there having the time of there lives together again, with Our Heavenly Father up in heaven. And you know she's singing with the Angels in the choir. And yes she is singing lead, and the Angels are doing the back vocals.God bless you Phoebe and Valerie Rose.
I lived in Hawaii for a number of years. On one occasion in early 1974 I just happened to attended a small concert at an outdoor basketball court at University of Hawaii-Manoa. There could Not have been more than five hundred people there. One of the entertainers was this dark-curled haired young lady. One of the songs she sang was about a "Poetry Man". This would have been before it's official release. If at the time, had I known her name or what the future held for her, I would have chased her down and given her a 'Kiss'. It has been many, many years since that night. I still remember leaning back and looking up at all the stars in the sky. Little did I know that one day they would be joined by a much brighter one.

As another child of the 70's I don't remember one day going by that I did not hear Phoebe's voice coming out of at least one music player in our house. By age 15 she had made my all time most beloved musical artist list and has never been bumped from her top 5 spot. This woman wrote the lyrics that no one else would admit to and sang them like no one else could. Her voice will still bring tears to my eyes, Phoebe you will always be missed!

I've listened to and loved your voice all of my adult life. within the past few years I even checked to see if you were performing anywhere while I was visiting my family in New York. I miss you and when I can hold myself together, I'll start listening to you again.

I'm sitting here listening to Phoebe Snow on my iPod reflecting on the fact that 40 years ago I was listening to her on vinyl. What a voice, what a wonderful lady. A great loss but we are all so fortunate we had her in this world.
I love you, I miss you, and I am blessed that I look like you. Even if I didn't get your pipes, your legacy, artistry, and vocalising will continue to inspire and always make my heart sing.
hello. i just lost a son to mental illness. i happened upon phoebe snows' story and her devotion to her daughter valerie and felt an amazing connection. she valued her time with her daughter as the most precious thing in her life. her amazing talent, along with her priority of motherhood and love sets her apart from anything society could offer up. she listened to her heart. i look forward to seeing her, her daughter, and my son when the time comes. i am so inspired by her. god bless you and your family, phoebe.
I know this is a bit late, but I just wanted to let you know Pheobe has been a part of my life for the past 30 years, and I will continue to listen to her music the rest of my life. It always touches me deeply, makes me smile, makes me laugh, and makes me want to dance. Today, Pheope, I raise a glass in toast to a most magnificent woman and tender heart. I will miss you.
My sister, who passed away in 1993, turned me on to Phoebe Snow in the 70s when I was a younster. I still have her 'Phoebe Snow' and 'Against The Grain' albums. The other night I listened to 'Every Night' and it brought back a flood of memories and a smile to my face. Memories of my childhood, my sister, and a great artist.
She put family first. Her contribution is unforgetable!
I am confident we will see her again. Perhaps then I will have an opportunity to meet her. My condolences to the family.

I was playing Phoebe's music on YouTube and saw the posting that she had passed. I send my prayers and condolences to her family and friends. I hope this little story gives you comfort and puts a smile on your face.
Sometime between late 1975 and early 1977, my husband, two friends, and I saw Miss Phoebe in concert in Santa Barbara. It was in an old, restored theater. When she walked out on stage, she looked around, walked up to the mike and said, "Will ya check this place out!" When I think about her, I think of that moment and the wonderful concert she performed. She was a beautiful person!
God bless you.
My condolences to the family and friends. Phoebe will always be remenbered and I loved her dearly.
To the family of Phoebe Snow, my sincerest sympathies. May you find comfort in the promise found at Rev. 21:4.
Phoebe you will always live.
Thanks for some great music, for your devotion to Valerie, and for keeping alive the memory of a great train.

May you and your daughter R.I.P in Heaven and may you sing with Luther, Teddy and all the greats up there! I will miss you forever and you will always have a place in my heart. My 1st born will still be named Phoebe after you. Blessings Donneva J Oakland, CA
God Bless You Phoebe. I pray you and Valerie have been reunited for eternity.
She had a supple voice of diamond brightness and depth which she used with strength and pain in the world. And so, the world will never be quite the same, not as long as there are hearts that listen and souls that touch in music. Thank you Phoebe. And the angels sing...
Phoebe and I were born the same year and I'll never forget "Poetry Man" that debuted right after college graduation. As probably the greatest singer of her times, her voice and range were phenomenal; she defined 1970s music for me.
She was a beautiful person who loved her daughter deeply and cared for her to the end. May she rest in eternal peace.
SO sad to hear of Phoebe's untimely passing:-( Had all her cassettes, originally, then vinyl & now cd's. Have lost count of how many people I've enlightened & who are now wildly enthusiastic fans. I'll be playing her cd's tonight - she will be missed:-( Tracey
Phoebe Snow, an amazing voice and an amazing woman. Thanks for the pleasure, all the way from Aotearoa New Zealand
I became an instant fan of your soulfully expressive lovely music the first time I heard it in the Spring of 1975 as I prepared for my morning college courses. Every time I hear "Poetry Man," I'm brought back to my college days. Your passing to the Lord means he wants a jazzy addition to His heavenly choir. Though we never met, I feel like I've known you, particularly through your music. I deeply feel your loss, like a family member. This past week, I learned to play and sing the 1973 studio recorded version "Poetry Man." I am grateful to God for the gift of you and granting me
the ability to perform this song. I will play this song in your honor the rest of my life as long as the Good Lord lets me. You were a good mother in addition to being a gifted song writer, talented guitar player, stellar singer, and excellent performer. God bless you, Phoebe, and may the Good Lord rest your soul.
I'll always remember you, thank you for making the world a better place!
I'll always remember you, thank you for making the world a better place!
I didnt know you personally, but loved your music and voice from the first time i heard you. There will never be another unique sound like you. I never had to guess who was singing on the radio or on a commercial or a jingle. You and your gift will be missed so much. I have some 78's and a 45 of your songs that i cherish. I had to buy a cd a few years ago so i could hear you once more. I knew i was "mature" when i heard Poetry Man for the umpteenth time and finally figured out just what it meant. I will always thankful to you for that. Poetry Man and Never Letting Go are my favorites. My flesh was saddened when i learned you had gone home, but my spirit is rejoicing. The heavenly choir has a new member!!! and it will never be the same. Missing you much.
I will miss you Phoebe.
I had been thinking of you so much-and now find out you've crossed over. I can't believe you're gone now.
Maybe you were trying to tell me....
I *know* you were a loving wonderful mother... even if no one else said so...but everyone knew as I can see here!
*I* will never forget talking with you, getting current, laughing, you driving me home and us supporting one another in our mutual struggle.
May love and light be with you, and with Valerie always.
Till we meet again..You're in my prayers dear Phoebe.
God Bless you Phoebe Snow and God bless Valerie Rose, the two of are meant to be together. Thank you for recording such beautiful music to share with the world. Enjoy heaven.
I have loved you and your magical musical storytelling for 4 decades. Your gift to the world will never be forgotten.
I'm sure you're singing with the Angels!
A talent for all to admire is the love and dedication she showed for her precious daughter Valerie. Her music is a given as she reached into the hearts of so many ages of people. We all shall
remember her works.
Valerie and she will walk with the Lord and forever be Free of pain and suffering.
She is one of the stars in the heavens that we can gaze upon and pray that someday we all will be united once again.
I remember listening to Phoebe Snow in the mid seventies. The unique style and range of her voice was amazing. No singer has come close to Ms. Snow's style. I will surely miss you Phoebe. May you rest in peace. My sincere and deepest sympathy goes out to the family and close friends of Ms. Snow.

A true lady with a heavenly voice and talent. Rest easy.
Your poetry and music will never go away... I truly believe that generations to come will celebrate your artistry and your amazing voice... As someone else posted, you contributed to the soundtrack of my life as well. Thanks for the light you brought to a sometimes very dark world.

Your music moved my soul. Your personality and support of my daughter Jessica's singing career will always be remembered. I will miss our long talks and your passion for life.
Cousin Bruce, Alpine, NJ
My best friend and I celebrated our 40th birthdays together with our husbands by seeing Phoebe at the Venrura Theatre. It was amazing. she confided in the audience that she was going to sing opera and classical music going forward and gave us a sampling. She was delightful. It was 1997, and I'd loved her since 1974.
Phoebe--You will always be the Poetry Woman. A beautiful person with a lovely voice and a life full of kindness.
You will stay with us, Phoebe.
I am often struck by the important role that music has played in my life. The music that Ms. Snow performed could always just make me smile. It sort of occupied a place that was not exclusively in one catagory or another. It just had the ability to provide me a little pleasure during my quietest of times. Bless Ms. Snow and her memmory.
to the friends and family of phoebe snow she has left a void in the music business that no one will able to fill
miss you miss poetry man
I always loved Ms Snows unusual voice, and admired her courage in caring for and keeping her daughter Valarie home. Her music will always be alive in my heart. Her talent and example as a Mother of a disabled child will live on as well.
thankyou for all the beautiful music you gave us. you helped me though alot of hard times with your music. now you can be with valerie thank you, bless you, always
Listening to Phoebe was like listening to your inner self. The messages were clear and precise. With each song you felt as if she was talking to or about you..and you knew it it! Phoebe's voice soared high above the notes on the charts, but yet she was tender when she sang "Never Letting go" or "Something So Right" and "Two Fisted Love" you knew she meant it. How I will miss her artistry and her gift of song. Phoebe now rests with the angels, but I'll bet there is a heck of a jam session going on with others who left us too soon.
Poetry Man is playing in my mind and it brings back wonderful memories of my younger days. To family and friends of Phoebe may you find comfort in each other, memories, and in God. Take comfort in knowing that "God is near to those broken at heart." Psalms 34:18.
I will forever have wonderful memories of riding around my hometown iof Indianola, MS, while listening to my 8-track in the car---The Poetry Man song was blaring, and just the thoughts of her great voice bring a smile to me even now--What an awesome voice to share with us, the followers of her music---She will be missed, yet will love singing with the angels that awaited her-----Teresa S. (Jackson, MS)
“Love is long-suffering and kind …it does not look for its own interests.” Phoebe Snow demonstrated tender affection towards her daughter for over thirty years. Never did she have one moment of regret. I believe that type of love never goes unrewarded.
You will be so deeply miss, you had a voice like none other. Now it's your time to sing with the ANGELS.
I've loved you and your music since I fist heard you sing in the 70's. I remember when your little girl was born and how much I admired you as a Mom. You taught us all a lesson in love and humility. My God you could sing and your voice got better and stronger as the years went by...You will be missed by many.
I was a teenager the same time as Phoebe Snoe, so I grew up with her music..she was such a talented lady and will be missed.
It's not just your wonderful and unique talent. Phoebe, you will always be special. The more I learn about you, the more I love you. May all of your family and friends have peace, 'Poetry Lady."
I listened to Phoebe's album about a million times. I knew she had a disabled child and always felt for her. I'm sorry that she had to see her beloved daughter pass away and I'm sorry that she also suffered from a brain hemmorage in the end. Phoebe lived her life for her daughter which made her life real. Her voice was pure as was her heart. Good-bye Phoebe, you will be remembered fondly. May God keep you and your daughter in his loving hands.
Not a day will go by that I don't listen to you sing like a nightingale. RIP, sweet soul.
You got me through a many days and nights with that voice of yours ! Now you can soar and sing with the angels. You and Valarie and together forever ! You spoke to many souls..
I'll always remember in the 70's you playing your Martin & singing at RE'S Plum in Bogota, NJ while I was flippin' burgers in the back kitchen! Loved your voice and music...May you now be at true peace!
Grace and Peace and rest in Jesus name. Thank you for giving a superior voice and sing that voice on high to the heaven.

Phoebe, Thanks for everything you gave to the musical world. I loved ALL of your songs as they were delivered via such a wonderful voice. Sing to the angels!
May the families and friends of Phoebe Snow throw your anxieties on our Heavenly Father because He cares. " 1 Peter 5:7. He is comforting all who are mourning because He is the God of comfort. Phoebe had a beautiful voice I remember listening to her song back in the 70's when I was just a girl. I enjoy her soulful voice.....
Rest in peace - Go and get your crown
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
One of my all time favorites of the 70's. I first heard her while living in NYC in the mid to late 70's. Truly an incredible voice.
I'm so deeply saddened by Ms. Snow's passing. She sang to me many a days, nights, good times and bad. Nothing better than "Poetry Man" and her soulful sultry voice. I take solace in knowing however, that she's now once again with her beautiful daughter, Valarie. May they both rest in peace, and continue to grace us with their presence as stars now brilliantly shiningg in the night sky. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. I pray precious memories and God's blessings give you strength and comfort during this most difficult time.
Phoebe, rest your beautiful voice, you have given us plenty to carry us on forever, you will be heard always.
Truly a great loss to the music world...I will miss the voice, but will still hear it in my soul
"Something Real" has been my favorite Phoebe Snow song. You will be missed Phoebe, thanks for the beauty you graced us with...

A true musical legend has left us! Our only solice is that she is now with her beloved Daughter...RIP Phoebe and thanks for all the joy you brought us!
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
To the Family, Phoebe is singing with the angels blessing them as she did so many of us. She was a truly unique singer that made you pay attention to her music. Will never forget Poetry Man it brings back wonderful memories at a wonderful time in my life. God bless you all.
Pray your heart is full again in the embrace of your Valerie. Now you can go sing and love eternally.
Such a beautiful spirit is completely free now ... As the mother and caregiver for a child with brain injury, much of the courage I found has been through the courageous act of this loving mother, Ms. Phoebe Snow. It takes a special person to abandon all for the love of her child. Love her voice, her music ... above all though her magnanimous spirit to love so deeply. God blessings to her family...
Another angelic voice has joined heaven's choir. You will be misssed.
"Poetry Man" was part of the soundtrack for a wonderful time in my life. I loved Phoebe Snow's rich voice and big heart.
"Thank you Phoebe, for the melodic memories! I never had the opportunity to see you perform in person, but I will still cherish your memory as one of the greatest songwriters and vocalist, to ever live." The heavenly choir and Valerie have now welcomed you home. Oneday, I'll be blessed to sing along with you, as we sing praises to God and His wonderous creations and glory for the rest of eternity."
Phoebe, you were an angel here on earth because of your wonderful voice & your devotion to your daughter & now you are an angel in Heaven along with Valerie. P.S I played Love Makes A Woman today & it brought tears to my eyes.
Upper Marlboro, MD
RIP Phoebe!! You are now with your daughter Valerie. My mother Emily Kasenchak from Fort Lee use to go to your house to help with Valerie's patterning exercises. You were a good mother to take care of your child. You had a beautiful voice and made people happy. RIP!! You will be greatly missed by everyone.
A great loss to the industry. Her voice will now be a great addition to the chorus in Heaven.
Heavens choir sure has another beautiful voice, you will be truly missed.-Carla Hale-Sophus Akron, OH
I loved me some Phoebe Snow! What a calming voice she had. Poetry Man made me think of love. Thank You Ms. Snow for your angelic voice! Godspeed and may your reunion with your beloved Valerie be wonderful!
When a vocalist like Phoebe Snow enriches our lives with such grace and soul, it needs to be said, "How great thou art and ever will be." Many hours of pleasure were mine, listening to my copies of Phoebe's music. I wore them to oblivion. Thank you, thank you for such joy you brought me so many times in my life. Just one example: I lived 2 and 1/2 hrs from my dear mother. Looking forward to that drive to visit her was always highlighted by playing my favorites of Phoebe Snow over & over. Of course, I never tired of "Poetry Man". God bless the family and close friends.
Saw her in concert two years ago - glad I went. She still had the singing chops, dedicated a few songs to Valerie (and her voice came from profound depths) and she also knew how to get the smiles and laughs. She just seemed so happy to be sharing with a few hundred fans. A magic night with a remarkable and talented human being. I know you are at peace with Valerie.
Phoebe, You have the voice of an angel. Now you are with the angels and your beloved Valerie. RIP
For A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING
I was so shocked to hear of Phoebe's passing.
I had the honor of working with Phoebe in creating and printing the pamphlets for Valerie Rose when she passed. What a beautiful child. I was able to see Valerie Rose grow from her birth to the day she passed and was so touched by her beautiful spirit.
Phoebe and I had lunch together a few times and I really admired her strength in what is right in life.
She was extremely intelligent, politically knowledgeable and was able to love life even after the biggest part of her life had been taken.
Like so many others I was taken with her voice and wondered what had happened to her. In the saddest time of her life our paths had crossed which was surely meant to be.
I pray for Phoebe's family but know she is with her adored Valerie Rose. She would never ask for more.
Goodbye to our "Poetry Woman".
Sincere condolences to family and friends,
Beautiful unusual voice, evocative melodies and lyrics. Her music wasn't of a period, but like all truly great music it stands up over time without sounding dated or quaint. Your memory will live on through the gift of your voice and talent. Rest in peace girl, and sing on.
Talk to me some more, you don't have to run...
I have always loved Phoebe Snow. Her voice so unique, peaceful and quite simply, beautiful. Queen Latifah's version of "Poetry Man" brought back memories of Ms. Snow's exceptional style. Even though she has not been on the scene for quite some time, her talent is hard to forget. The fact that she made the decision to give priority to her child's care seems right in tune with the personality she exuded. Rest peacefully beautiful Phoebe.
I often wondered what happened to that angelic voice. She will be remembered forever. RIP Phoebe!
MAY GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY.
I have been a fan of Phoebe's since the beginning of her career. Another great sadly missed but never forgotten. Thank you for sharing your great music.
I know you are and will always be an Angel from Heaven. Now you have received your wings. God Bless you and your family Phoebe. Love always, Phyllis
I was pregnant with my daughter when I saw Phoebe in Spokane Washington way back in 1979. She was fantastic and in fact it was the day her divorce came through or around that time and she wanted to party with everyone so she sang her heart out all night long. What a concert. I have loved her music ever since. She will be missed.
You have always been a blessing to the world and will continue to be! Thank you for all you have shared with us. Rest in peace with your Daughter. xo
I loved the music of Phoebe Snow, the soulfullness of her voice and the broadness of her range. I still keep one of her CDs in my car, and often play "No Regrets" when the timing is right.
God keep this good mother in His care.
Thank you Phoebe for entertaining me...RIP
I recently received a "record player" and the first album I played was yours. I loved your music. Rest in peace Phoeboe. You are loved.
MAY YOU REST IN GOD'S ARMS...............
Dear Phoebe, Words can not tell how much you have inspired me in my life...My heart aches for me but I know you are with your daughter in paradise, thank you so very much for sharing with us your love of life..Looking forward to meeting you.....
I was a depressed teenager and stuck out in the middle of nowhere. Phoebe helped me get enjoyment from life during those years through music and gave me a strong appreciation of different styles of music and the musical elements such as insturments, voices and genras...
Always enjoyed her voice and style. RIP, Phoebe-
My condolences to all in Ms. Snow's family. May the God of all comfort be with you during your time of grief and forever (2 Cor. 1:3-5).
I was so saddened to hear of Ms. Snow's stroke and now this. I feel like I lost a friend. Ms. Snow's music has been a comfort to me in stormy times and a go to for a good mood too. Thanks to Linda Ronstadt for urging Ms. Snow to go out on the road again finally giving me the opportunity to see her after listening to her music for 30+ years. She will be missed, but leaves a rich legacy. My sympathy to her family, friends and fellow Phoebe fans.
Goodnight Sweetie...We will nmiss You
phoebe was one of the best singers.
cash it all in; one of my favorite's, of many songs by a great singer.
Many like Phoebe left us gifts in the form of memories that no one can take away, wisdom that we can still recall. These are the things that we shall cherish forever. May the Snow family continue to look to Almighty God for comfort during this difficult time. Because God is a refuge and strength, a help that is readily to be found during distresses.
I just found this out that my Phoebe is gone. I say mine because, her songs touched my heart and soul as non other. I will miss her creative songwriting and THANK GOD...her voice was recorded. Sing for the angels Phoebe for I am sure that is where your vocals came from.

Ms Snow's music touched my heart. May she rest in peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-13 "For everything there is an appointed time, even a time for every affair under the heavens." Miss Phoebe unselfishly set her priorities straight not sacrificing her beloved daughter for fame. Fame can be beautiful when put in the proper prospective. I've often thought what happened to her. May she have the prospect of living forever in the new system with her daughter.

I have such great memories of Phoebe Snow from back in the days. Her music is one of a kind. I am honored that I finally saw her in person at B.B. King's Night Club, New York. What a warm spirit. My condolences to the family. May God bless and keep you all during this difficult time.
Your voice is so amazing - I will hold all that you had to offer in my heart for the time I have here. It has been a pleasure to have walked this earth while you were here. Be at peace Phoebe.
A voice from Heaven and a gift of kindness, in all auras you will come back to Earth to repeat the synergy of all that matters. Loving spirits.

Although she had an illness and I am sure she had many unpleasant days, she never let it get her down, but moved on with her life. I really was impressed and encouraged by her positive attitude. She is to be commended for her determination to make a life for her daughter. Blessings come from giving. I know that she will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you.

A fond memory is seeing Phoebe and Jackson Browne perform at Passaic, NJ's old Capitol Theatre back in the early 70s. My husband John Gatti had the privilege of playing with Phoebe on a demo of Gone at Last, before it was recorded with Paul Simon. She will be missed by her fans, friends and family and remembered with fond affection.
I remember her well from the mid to late 1990s. We shared many fun times at Mario's vocal studio in Hoboken, NJ. I am sorry to see her go. God's blessings and comfort to the family she left behind..

May you rest in peace. I saw Phoebe in concert in the 70's. You had us standing in the aisles. Poetry Man and "17" will hold a special place in my heart because of you. Go and sing with the Angels. God Bless.
How sad. Phoebe was a remarkable woman, and a Mother who embodied the best qualities of the maternal instinct. From my selfish perspective, I will miss her as a great talent. The world is not as good a place without her, from any perspective. What a great loss to humanity.
i went online last week listing to teach me to night back on line to find out your gone you will be missed my heart goes out to you band your family.
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
Ruth Ann Mahaffey (author)
Your music carried me through some tough times, thank you for that. Rest in peace.
I so loved her music. Her voice will continue to touch lives of many. Her heart and spirit did what was required of her to do. She is now a part of the Most Heavenly of Choirs. Forever a fan, D. Woods
I am devastated. Phoebe is the reason I began singing as a young adult. I miss here so much already. I did not know she was even sick. I would have prayed for her. I am so sad. I love you so much, Phoebe. I will always miss you every day of the rest of my life. I hope to see you and sing with you someday. My tears are falling as I'm writing this. My prays go to her family. I am heartbroken.
Love ya, Phoebe! Always was comforted by your voice and music. You are one of a kind and you will never be forgotten. Miss you already, but you are in peace with Valerie. I did not realize until yesterday that we had in common the blessing of a special needs child. I feel even closer to you . Sincerest condolences to family and friends.
Although we’ve never met, I was saddened by the loss of your beloved family member. May “the God of all comfort who comforts us in all our tribulation” be with you.
I Saw her perform in Jackson, MS back in the 70's with Jackson Brown and have loved her ever since - a true legend gone - GOD Bless
My deepest sympathies to Ms. Snow's loved ones. She truly made her mark in the music industry and left this life all too soon. May the hope cited in the bible at Isaiah 26:19 bring you comfort and peace during your time of grievous time of loss.

My heartfelt condolences to her family. I have some great memories of her when she was a teenager in Teaneck NJ, especially listening to her practice on her 0018 Martin Guitar. It certainly was inspiring to hear her play the Blues. She was so dedicated to her music. Then I followed her throughout the years and learned she choose to dedicate herself to taking care of their beautiful child. She will continue to be an inspiration in our lives. Thank you for the life lesson Phoebe!
You will be missed. That voice like no other. Prayers to the family.

Phoebe Snow was an incredible talent. From the first time I heard Poetry Man, I knew her music was something unique and special. Rest In Peace!
For the family and friends of Ms. Snow I am very sorry for your loss. My aunt had a few of her albums and played them ALL the time. Ms. Snow was blessed with a wonderful crisp voice. I am even more impressed with her choice to personally care for her daughter instead of caring more about her career. Very soon the Living God will end all sickness, pain, death and sorrow forever.
We have truly lost one of the best singers of all times.May GOD KEEP YOU UNDER HIS WINGS,NOW YOU ARE UP IN HEAVEN SINGING FOR HIM. R.I.P. MS. SNOW.

I grew up with her beautiful voice coming across the air waves and on the juke box and it was wonderful!
My sympathy to her family, may you find that God gives you the strength to find your way through this time
...another good one gone...
There are so few really great singers anymore--the ones who have their own distinct style. Phoebe was one of them and her music and voice were so mesmerizing and heartfelt. She sang what she knew and this can make all the difference in the world between art and talent. Art is what she had.
And to take the time to take care of your special needs family member is one of those things that we really don't HAVE to do. Ms Phoebe did because she knew love.
My condolences to the family and friends of Ms Phoebe.
Poetry Man was such a wonderful record and her voice was just so wonderful to listen to. She was a very talented singer and it seems an even more wonderful mother. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
A very talented lady. May she rest in peace.
She'll be missed but her songs will live on. I thought she was a Sistah...SHe had som much soul but then Tina Marie wasn't a Sistah but we embraced her too...Rest on Phoebe !!!
Phoebe Snow was a fantastic singing artist. I enjoyed her music while others flowed with other tunes. I thought her voice to be explosive, soothing and she made me think inside as well as outside life. She was a special part of life in many ways. I pray her family will find peace in knowing that...she's done her job well as a mother and artist. Her soul is at rest and she joins her daughter in Gods river of everlasting life. May God give you strenght as you bid farewell for now!

I'm taking this pretty hard, & I don't even know here. But I know her voice and that voice is unique & 1 of a kind. I grew up with her music.
I love her & I loved her voice. There's a reason Donald Fagen chose her to sing in The New York Rock & Soul Revue. Listen to her voice.
Nobody sounds like Phoebe...noboby. God Rest Her Soul.
May God welcome her as a friend....
God bless you Phoebe, you were a huge part of my teenage years and I have so many wonderful memories attached to your music. Thank you for the legacy that you left us. You will be greatly missed.
Dear Lord, Please accept Phoebe into your embrace, and let her know no discomfort, no hunger or thirst; let her know how much she was loved by those she left behind; and let her into your kingdom of Heaven; reuniting with those who have gone before her.
I am beside myself in my sorrow for you. You so deserved some time with your music after all those years with your beloved Valerie. I will miss your presence in our world. Be at peace.

I loved Phoebe, both as an artist and as an example of self-sacrificial parenting. The world is a much sadder place today, without her.
Phoebe, talk to me some more, you don't have to go. (Paul Stridick, Merchantville, NJ)
As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
Please accept our deepest sympathies.
When I was 22 and met my husand-to-be, in 1975, we both fell in love with her album, which I still have. He was my poetry man and it seemed the song was written just for us. He always made things alright. Her album defined the happiest time of my life and while much has changed in life, everytime I hear that song I feel great joy. Even makes me a bit teary. Thank you Phoebe and be joyous where ever you are. You touched my soul.
I remember the first time I heard "Poetry Man". I was just out of high school and my taste in music had always been 50's and 60's. Then along came Phoebe Snow. Her voice was mesmerizing. warming, and addicting. I saw her on talk-shows and she was open and funny. When she laughed, you laughed. I remember when her daughter was born and how joyous she was and loved talking about her. My condolences to her family and friends. May she be at peace.
I can't stop crying - I waited over 30 yrs to see Phoebe and I got my chance

They were awesome I do hope God Grants here eternal rest
Deepest condolences to her wonderful family. Phoebe was unforgettable and I am blessed to have heard this Angel sing.
Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.
God bless Ms. Phoebe Snow for her kindness, her realness, and of course, her beautiful voice which I enjoyed tremendously; I even still own some of her albums. I was also one of her obstretrical and newborn nurses when Valerie Rose was born at a well-known medical center in New York City. Despite the traumatic experience of her daughter's brain damage, Ms. Snow was friendly, down-to-earth, and unassuming. I did not have the pleasure of being with her in the delivery room, but she was one of my post partum patients, and Valerie Rose was one of my nursery patients during their stays. I have never forgotten how brave Ms. Snow was in the face of adversity, and how eager she was to learn everything she could about how to care for her baby. By the time she was discharged, she had distributed so many of her latest album to staff on all three shifts. To the family, I am a total stranger to you, but I offer my prayers for you along with my sincerest and deepest condolences to each of you.
My condolences to Phoebe's family and friends. She had an angelic voice that will now sing with the Angels of Heaven.
The voice of a lark is silenced. Thanks for the wonderful music upon which delicious memories were built. May you rest in peace.
Sing with the Angels Phoebe as we celebrate your beautiful legacy of music that is timeless.
To the Family and Friends of Phoebe Snow, I am saddened to hear of the loss of the woman with a one-of-kind voice. I have never had the pleasure of seeing her perform live, but I have memories of her music. I loved her music. Lean on the Lord in your time of sorrow. You are in my thoughts and prayers. To Phoebe thank you for the music.
REST IN PEACE PHOEBE!!!
she was a jewish neshama who did a great mitzvah taking care of her daughter and singng songs that helped people. G-d bless her and comfort her family.
From the first time I heard Phoebe sing "Poetry Man", I knew I had to buy everything she recorded. Her voice was a gift from heaven, a God-given talent. Now her journey with us ends and we will miss her; but Phoebe's music will live on forever. Death is not the "end" for Ms. Phoebe; it's only a change to a better place where she and Valerie will be able to shine together once again in the house of the Lord! I'll be praying for the Laub Family. Find peace and favor in the Lord our God during this difficult time. --
Phoebe had an amazing, unique voice.Check out"Standing on Shaky Ground" I knew her family in Teaneck back in the day.
Phoebe's music is a precious gift for all of us. We will miss her. Our sincere condolences to her family.

I loved Poetry Man. Her style and singing was very unique. Phoebe is now asleep, as is her daughter. One day soon they will see each other again for Almighty God said " He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more; neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Rev 21:4
My condolences to Phoebe Snow's Family. I loved her singing from the first time I heard her. Another great one gone on to Glory. She is now reunited with her prescious Valerie. Rest in peace Phoebe and thank you for your music.
I loved it when she performed "Married Man" with Linda Ronstadt on Saturday Night Live. Haven't been able to find it anywhere.
Oh dear Phoebe- You and your unique talent have been a special and beautiful part, indeed a crown jewel in my adult life experience, ever since savoring your first album as a teenager. You will always be with me, among countless others you've touched, and I wish you boundless joy and contentment on the other side.
".......a magnificent mother to her late brain-damaged daughter, Valerie, for 31 years. Phoebe felt that was her greatest accomplishment."
What a beautiful sentiment. To feel her child was her greatest accomplishment shows the depth of her love. They are together once again.
My heartfelt condolences to your family. Your music is part of my life, including raising my son, age 29, who has disabilities. I will teach him to play Poetry Man on the piano in your memory. Regina Tegeler, Bridgewater, NJ
A beautiful woman,singer,songerwriter,

ful human being.Rest in peace Phoebe !!!
I will never forget you,never!!!!!!!
Peace and and love!! Vivian Foster
Phoebe, I love you and appreciate all that you gave my youth and to who I am today. I was your biggest fan and you will be missed. Our world just shifted off of it's axis because you were lifted from it to sing to the heavens and to Valerie Rose for all of eternity. R.I.P my friend...although I did not know your personally, I felt that you helped mold me into who I am today because of your music. Be at peace and kiss Valerie Rose for me.
In the early 70s, my brother dated a girl named Julie Laub; I think they met at summer camp. Julie came to our house in Wayne, NJ, and told us about her sister, Phoebe, who was going to release an album. A couple of years later, Phoebe Snow emerged with "Poetry Man." I always remembered that exchange. Thoughts and condolences to Julie, family and friends.
Hearing her sing was a pleasure but nothing compared to seeing her love for her daughter at the diner or the supermarket in Fort Lee.
My condolences to Phoebe's family and loved ones, from one of the many loyal and long-time fans introduced to Phoebe by radio in 1975. I had the privilege to see and hear Phoebe perform live three times, in 1979, 1983 and 1986, experiences so vivid and thrilling that I remember parts of each show even now, more than 25 or 30 years later. Phoebe's records have brought me and many others much joy through the years. "Poetry Man" and "I'm Your Girl / You're My Girl" are beautifully-written songs and will remain timeless classics. I never met Phoebe personally, but admired from afar not only her artistry and craft, but also her love and devotion to Valerie Rose. Farewell, Phoebe, with appreciation and fondness.
Sleep well, our dear Phoebe.
God's gift of compassion, love and devotion was well represented in you. How your velvet voice soothed my rebellous nature in the 70's! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
I still remember the contentment I felt when listening to the rainbow you sang.
God love you, Phoebe, and so do we. You are definatly an inspiration of love
To the Family of Phoebe Snow,
Please accept our heart felt condolences on the loss of Phoebe.
“May the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort” be with you during this difficult time.

By reading this obituary, Phoebe has touched MY life. For someone to set aside what they do best; for what could bring them happiness through doing what they love and the money that comes with it to do the right thing? There is no question in my mind that God has a very special place in heaven for Phoebe, right along side of Valerie. I am truly humbled to make this guestbook entry.
Phoebe, you had such an amazing and unique voice. Thank you for sharing your musical gift with us, and for leaving your mark in American popular music. 'Poetry Man' is still a beautiful song, as are so many of your songs.
Rest in peace, Phoebe Snow.
Today I light this candle in your Honor may u now sing to your daughter in heaven and my u both RIP...and may the music continue.....God Bless
Thank you for sharing your gift of singing with me.
One of my favorite all time artists. Love the "No regrets" version she did
Phoebe was so instrumental to many of us as we navigated through the milestones of life. Thank you beautiful lady - may you rest in peace...
A great mom, a great voice, a great artist. She always did what was right and followed her conscience instead of the culture. Her voice and her music will live on and be enjoyed -- and appreciated -- forever.
Dear Phoebe, Be sure to tell God about the time you sang on E-Town and people shot out of their seats when you sang in that special way you so often did. He'll love it! You will always be in my heart...Love from your long-time friend.
I loved to hear Phoebe Snow sing. When I found out what she did to take care of her daughter, it made me respect her so much. Phoebe found peace in taking care of her daughter. Phil 4:6,7

I am so very saddened hearing about the loss of Phoebe Snow. As soon as I heard, I put on "Something Real" and lit a candle. The world has lost not only a beautiful voice but a beautiful soul. Soar on the wings of your angel daughter. Godspeed Phoebe~
Thank you for all the wonderful music, the golden tones and especially those high notes. Gone at Last is still one of my very favorite songs. Rest in peace with your daughter. Kathleen, Philadelphia
Phoebe was my soul sister (even if she didn't know it) and I sang right along with her. She got me through my youth with her music! Her voice was incredible and I am thankful for her music.

I taped a tribute to Muddy Waters a while ago that was awesome. When Phoebe came on it was phenominal!
Every time I look at that performance it gives me chills. Her voice, her love for the music, good music, the joy of enjoying Johnny Johnson playing the piano is so evident! She is one of countless reasons I can think of right now, to thank God for my senses! For your encore, sing pretty now, Phoebe!
You leave a great legacy with your music and your example of selfless caring for Valerie. Now you are together at last.
You sing with the angels now. A unique voice, a rare soul. Bless You.
We can only imagine what a glorious party you must have going on now...rest easy, our precious Phoebe. You remain an inspiration...gone but not forgotten.

Phoebe has touched every singer , such as myself in ways undefined . The impact of her music on all the musicians of the 1970's , is something profoundly strong in my life . She is a kindred spirit , and all of us muscians and fans will all join her at some point in that "band in the sky" , so you see she really isn't gone ... Look how much she has left . RIP beautiful voice ...
I have always loved your voice. You have touched many with your gift. Many of my favorite memories of high school and growing into adulthood are tucked away in your songs. Phoebe was an incredibly gracious supporter of the CityKids Foundation in NYC back in the 90's. She was much beloved by everyone there, most especially the kids with whom she joyfully performed at their gala fundraising events. What a wonderful human being.
I went to Edward Williams College in Teaneck NJ and was at the Teaneck library when I met Phoebe's sister Julie. She probably won't remember, but we rode around in my car until she anxiously awaited for her sister Phoebe's song "Poetry Man" on the radio. Julie was so proud and I turned out to be a big fan and loved her music. My condolences to Julie and her family for your loss. Phoebe will be missed.

You are now at peace with your daughter. May you rest in peace. I feel as if I lost a friend today.
This woman shaped the musician I am today, I followed her to the point that I knew some of her more obscure music, music that runs as deep as we humans do. I am sad we've lost a musician/artist of this calibur. God, take care of Phoebe, OK?
I always loved your music. You were an angel on earth, now you are one of God's angels in heaven reunited with your daughter.

Ms Snow was a woman after my own heart. I never will forget Poetry man. RIP.
My heart goes out to all of the friends, fans and family of Pheobe Snow. I discovered her with "Poetry Man" - I used to walk up and down the halls of my college dormitory singing that song freshman and sophomore year. I only recently, in the past few years, learned of all of the struggles she went through with her daughter and her own health. Such a sweet, strong spirit and wonderful musician; she will truly by missed.

What an end to such a beautiful peaceful voice that no one could copy. She was such a nice person too as I met her at some of the Blues Guitar shows throughout New Jersey back in the late 90's. A pleasant person to converse with, who had the voice of an Angel. Rest in Peace Phoebe, you will be sorely missed. A.E. Fotia

Phoebe Snow was a remarkable singer with an unusual brilliant voice. Sorry to hear of her passing. I never knew about her daughter, and I always wondered what happened to her. My condolences to the family.
Ms. Snow had an awesome, rare voice. Her tone so crisp, her expression so touching in conveying the music. I loved her music, espcially "Poetry Man". Our Black community embraced her as one of our own and most never knew that she was not African-American.
She will be missed by all who loved her music. May she rest in peace and may her family's grief be eased by the Lord.

In recent years, whenever I hear a song by Phoebe Snow, I think back to studying so very hard for the national boards I needed to pass for my occupation. God Bless. Roger H. Hugo

I have loved this voice from the very first time I heard her. She touched my very soul. I am truly saddened by her passing. May she rest in peace.
To Phoebe's Family,
All my prayers go out to the family. May Phoebe rest in peace with her daughter Valerie. Although I was disapointed that she was out of the lime-light, I knew about Valerie and understood and respected her decision to stay at home to care for her daughter. Her unselfish decision told me that she was a beautiful caring woman with a heart of gold and I truly respected that it was much more important to her than money and fame.
I have been a huge fan of Phoebe's music since 1977. I saw Phoebe in concert in Spokane , Wa and was amazed at her remarkable talent. She "Rocked the House" in the Opera House in Spokane. Although I was dissapointed that she was out of the lime-light, I knew about Valerie and understood and respected her decision to stay at home to care for her daughter. I could always spot Phoebe's voice on commercials within the first few notes, she had an incredible range. I feel blessed to have known her talent, to have seen her and experience the joy she delivered to her fans, and to also have her music. I play her CDs when I am working in the house and I just can't help but dance.
May Phoebe fill the heavens with her amazing voice & heart - She will be truely missed!

Phoebe, May effervescent bubbles of love and prayers, surround you today, as you sit at the right hand of God.
Thank you for sharing your incredible voice and writing skills with all of us. Thank you for the memories. Peace and blessings to you.
I was lucky enough to see her on her comeback, a free Madison Square Park concert, the summer before last, before tragedy befell her. She performed wonderfully. Her voice seemed to have not lost much at all from the decades and tough life circumstances. She had surrounded herself with a band of consummate professionals, who made her shine even more. She was an original, of course. What a loss.
Sad today. What a voice on this beautiful singer...what a range! Loved it when she sang big band songs.."Teach Me Tonight"..."Boat Leaving Soon For New York" Ironic my two favorite singers died years after suffereing brain hemorrhages...the other being Lois Prima.
