Phyllis I am womdering if you were the Phyllia canasta that wrote to me on the internet? I enjoyed your conversations about Richard Henry Lee who we both felt were our ancestor. Now that you are on the other side how about filling me in on the Lee family tree, where we left off when my dear husband found out he had cancer. He is up there now as well. Probably won't be long before I will be joining you all. So hang in there. Winnylee@frontiernet.net

My sisters and brother were very upset to hear of Phyllis's passing. Phyllis was very kind to me when I met her at one of the class of 1949 reunion. She even sent me a letter with a clipping about my father Bob Harding. I do hope that your happy memories will give you comfort during this very difficult time. Sincerely, Elizabeth Harding Jones, William C Harding, Victoria H Buchanan and Virginia H Pifko.

I had the pleasure of knowing Phyllis and was honored to be given an apron with kitties on it. She gave and received freely. She will be missed by many, both here in Tucson and in New Jersy. Her work will contine ....somewhere, somehow. This cannot be the end to her generous spirit.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of a dear friend. For many years I have shared tears and joy with Phyliss. She was always a person I admired for her honesty and loyalty. Her devotion to caring for others will be truly missed amongst her family and friends. I have been blessed to of shared the years I have with Phyliss and they will be forever treasured in my heart. Her friday appointments at my salon will forever remain hers..and my heart will forever have a void. I will truly miss her vibrant personality that made my day. But I know she will always be there in spirit to get me through. Thank you Phyliss for being so good to my family, my business and ME ! You will always be my MISSION IMPOSSIBLE..and one day we laugh about that again..we will ! I am so thankful to of met the family and friends of Phyliss at her memorial. It was so nice to see how many others took her into their hearts as I did. God bless

Rest well Dear Lady, until our God reunites us all in love one day.

Sending my families condolences in the form of this lovely poem....
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Ernie, Phyllis, and BJ. My mom just told me today about the extent to which this tragedy struck home. I had not seen the list of names before. I cannot believe she was right here in my backyard after the years we all spent in Rutherford. Again, my prayers go out to you all.

To Phyllis's family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I was a longtime fellow Green Ponder, and my mother and her good friend Lois knew Phyllis because they were all members of the Green Pond Chapel Club. I just spoke to Lois about all of her fond memories of Phyllis. She told me about Phyllis's dedication to the Chapel Club and the lovely aprons Phyllis made that were so popular at the Chapel Club Fair. I don't remember your mom because she was apparently a regular on the "second beach" at Green Pond, and our family used to gather under the tree at the other beach. But Lois tells me that my mother, who died in October after living in Michigan for 10 years,had known Phyllis well and that they both thought she was a very sweet and kind and generous woman. I'm so sorry you had to lose her to such a senseless act of violence. My prayers and sympathies are with all of you.
January 11, 2011
Dearest Phyllis--I love you and have always had the warmest of feelings for you. Always smiling, ready to cheer up her friends when they felt low. You will be missed by your Mah Jongg friends.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I was very touched by an interview with Phyllis' son this morning. I don't know the family personally, but as a mom, I know she must be proud of her son's grace at this difficult time. She must have been a terrific mother.
Sincerest condolences.
