We would like to express our deepest condolences and also to let the Acevedoaponte Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in Afghanistan. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

To All Parents
“I’ll lend you for a little time a child of Mine,” He said.
“For you to love the While he lives and mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years, or 22 or three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief.
You’ll have his lovely memories as solace and relief.
“I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are some lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to take him back again?”
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness, we’ll love him while we may
And for the happiness we’ve known forever grateful stay;
But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned.
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.”

I share in your loss; Proud Mother of Petty Officer 1st Class Joseph Adam McSween EODMU-11; IKA near Kirkuk, Iraq on 04-06-07

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

We are sorry it took us so long to post an entry for your family member. We are trying to catch up after locating this website. God Bless for allowing us to honor these heros.

We can't imagine what you have been going through since being notified of the death of your Warrior. The Military and families all over the USA and world are grieving with you and praying for you. What a very brave individual you have in your family that would give up a life for their homeland and its people so they can remain free. Your Freedom Fighter has served the Country above and beyond the call of duty, let no one ever tell you different. With the mission now completed your Warrior has been redeployed to Heaven to sit on the right hand of the Supreme Commander and Chief. The Father above has Ramon in his arms and will give him peace as well as eventually easing your pain and suffering. God speed to you and Sgt. 1st Class Ramon A. Acevedoaponte, our HERO. We are so proud of them that are willing to sacrifice for this great Nation, THANK YOU.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not're coming here to me.

To the family of SFC Acevedoaponte: I just wanted to say that I served with SFC Acevedoaponte back in 1998 and he was one of the nicest people I ever met. I worked in the S-1 and when he came in for something, he would make it a point to speak spanish to me as he felt I was out of practice. He was always correcting my poor language skills and I thought it was funny. My husband was in 3/5 platoon and worked with him directly. SFC Acevedo was always sure to tease the both of us equally about our poor taste in the opposite sex. We always had a good time around him and he seemed to enjoy all of us as well. He was a hell of a soldier and a hell of a guy and we are deeply saddened by the news. We are thankful to have known someone as admirable as SFC Acevedo. We would like to offer you our condolences and we will pray for you always.

A La Familia De Ramon:

To the Family of Sgt. 1st Class Ramon A. Acevedoaponte:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. They will never be forgotten, never able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your memories will sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.

I had the honor of serving with SFC Acevedo while on active duty in Fort Drum, NY. He was funny, kind, and cared about his soldiers. I am saddened that our nation has lost a HERO, but am thankful every day for the freedom that he defended. May God Bless you and your loved ones.

Even though, my papi isn't amongst us physically his presence still touches his friends and family. I can still hear your voice when I'm about to do something whether you are agreeing with me and promising to keep whatever it was secret or your giving that look when your disappointed. I can still remember you fueling my pyromanictic tendencies with our bonfires and you sitting with me for hours trying to teach me chess. I hope that everone who you've touched in some way from your jokes and that smile that never seemed to be wiped off your face that they won't be sad when thinking of you but laugh and roll their eyes when you said something silly.

SFC Acevedo was my section sergeant when I was stationed at Fort Drum, NY in the 3/5 platoon. He was a very kind and caring man. His soldiers always came first. I will miss SFC Acevedo. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I am sad and happy at the same time. My uncle is not longer with us in this world. At least is physically absent from our midst; however, I am happy. My uncle was always a gentleman with awesome intellect and knowledge of sciences, technology, and other difficult fields. He was a great champ in chess. I was never able to beat him. I was just thinking about my first move and he already won the game with 2-3 moves! He was fantastic in everything he did. But was makes him shine powerfully is great humbleness and love for his family and dedication and passion for freedom and democracy.

A soldier has a different heart than ours. A soldier is a hero. Even though I have not met a lot, for me, all of them are heroes. On wars, nobody wins. But I am seeing my uncle shine in the middle of this painful experience for us all. I am so proud of him ad also proud of my aunt Mianelle because as his wife, she was a hero also, by taking care of business in general back in the states: house, children, stress due to my uncle’s absence and risk at Iraq, etc.

I am calm because I know that he is safe now in the hands of the Lord. No more pain, or stress, or sickness, or sorrow… nothing like that. He is living the great life with God and grandma. In the meantime, I just say to Titi Mianelle and the kids to not to be discouraged. God is taking care of you and He had never nor will ever leave you alone… never! In adition, he has set an example of how powerful and weak we are at the same time. He just explained to us the lesson: our soldiers should be always in the highest level of honor and esteem. So far away and so close to us! Just because HE BELIEVED; that was the fire that kept him alive and pushing forward. This is so profound. That is why I always admired my “Tio Mitchell” and I will always do.

He set the example… he has all the medals… he had won the reace. Like the Apostle Paul said to his spiritual son, Timothy: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 7-8

God bless you Tio Mitchell and I’ll see you in heaven!

To ACE's family and friends,

ACE was an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with. He always kept his door open for anyone to come by. This was like a light in the dark to come home to in a way. He was a great man, soldier, and friend that I will never forget...........

Everyone that knew viejito had such a love and such a carino for him. He was loved by all. A wonderful man who brightened up your day with that smile of his and that little wave and his Que Paso. We had promised to go to dinner the night before and it was the hardest thing to go to dinner without him. We still held his spot for him and I knew that he was smiling at us from above. I loved him like a grandpa and I miss him so much. My heart truly broke the day that he passed. Mi viejo siempre te voy a querer y extranar. My prayers are with you always. I'm sorry that I can't say much but it's so hard for me right now. I have some comfort knowing that he's not alone that he's with Franklin. He loved you guys so much. Descansa mi viejo.

To the Family and Friends of Ramon,

We may not have known Ramon personally, but that doesn't make any difference, one life lost, is one life too many and we want you to know we feel your pain. We are still trying to get our lives back in order after losing our beloved Granddaughter, A1C Elizabeth N. Jacobson, a Security Forces Blue Beret, who lost her life in Iraq, 9-28-05. But, rest assured she is now guarding the Gates in Heaven while waiting for Ramon to join her and keep watch over us. Without our children this Country would not be what it is today. May G-d bless our troops, and hopefully, someday soon, Freedom and Peace will reign, so they all can be brought home safely.

No matter what type of accident or act of war, a loss of a child or friend is very traumatic, I know that words aren't much consolation, but we thank you for allowing him to serve. He will always be a hero in our hearts and will not be forgotten.

Elizabeth's motto was "We're only on Earth for a little while, so live life to the fullest and carry a smile."
