My candle for you Bob, always thinking of you. Times for me are hard right now as I find myself going through some emotions unknown to me and they scare me. I'm working on emulating the courage you had during your darkest times and know that mine don't even pale in comparison to yours but you inspire me to make the best of my situation and to move forward with gusto. I refuse to go down and be a victim, I'm a fighter and a protector. The strength you had keeps me going, allowing others to know your experience has brought so much fighter-spirit into my life and it will never let me falter. You're still my hero. "There goes my hero, watch him as he goes".

I work @ the Monte Carlo Resort in Las Vegas & Robert was our comedian headliner. What a truly-geniune person he was. Always upbeat even during his darkest time-fighting cancer. We will miss him dearly.

I worked with Robert for more than 18 years. He was just as funny off stage as on. Class act on stage and off. Smart, intelligent, opinionated, warm, caring, and hysterical. He deserved better luck with his health. I miss him

September 10, 2010
I saw an HBO special with Robert Schimmel about 7 years ago...I laughed until I cried. I became a fan then. As funny as his show was...it was also so very heart felt. His outlook on life with so much tragedy under his belt; he spoke of it with such grace and dignity. I thought he was a very funny and talented man but what I really liked was him as a person. It makes me so sad that his life had to end in such a tragic way when he fought so hard to stay here. Robert Schimmel will be greatly missed by so many but not more then by his family. It's amazing the affect one man can have on so many lives. My deepest sympathy to his family. Most of all to his children...his legacy

My wife and I initially saw Bob on an HBO special and immediately became sincere fans of his humor and presentation. We later were thrilled to see him in person in Boston. We also saw the television performance where he detailed his battle with cancer and made a statement which is now indelibly etched in my mind, being a cancer survivor myself. He said "I refuse to let this cancer control my life." Great words to live by. God Bless you, Bob!

September 07, 2010
I have Bob to thank for a lot of wonderful, wild, crazy, and fun times in my life. First he taught me how to rebel and sneak. Man, how my boring world changed. Our speeding down Hungry Hollow Road in the MG & up to the forbidden Three Fold Farms. Staring at clouds and laughing at how YOU saw them. One of my favorite memories was the day we were up in your bedroom; my back was to you checking out your stuff on your dresser. I turned around cuz you were cracking me up to find your back was to me; you were facing the wall standing on your bed performing on your “air-stage” in front of an audience. Then reality set in when your mom yelled “open the door and come down for dinner”. DINNER - at your house. Your mom was an excellent cook. There we were, Sandy sitting at the table like the well mannered young girl; yet Jeff was not as fortunate a sibling. Against your dads warnings you continued cracking jokes at the table and poor Jeff couldn’t stop laughing and got in trouble. Bob finally admitting to me last month that a specific joke you tell on stage IS OUR SECRET. You will always have that special place in my heart. A belated apology to Betty and Otto for when Bob broke into your room (not to look for keys like with Harry); we were innocently looking to steal a kiss in the wrong place and got busted. Bob, you said to me a few weeks ago “It was nice talking to you too. Right now, our talks our like a vacation for me mentally and emotionally, and I never take them for granted. I'm glad we reconnected. Talk to you later. Love, Robert”. Robert, I want you to heal soon, not just for my selfish reasons, but the world is waiting for your humor on this chapter in your life, which will bring more, much needed laughter to all of those who love you. My best to the Schimmel family for this special person to make a speedy recovery. 9/2/10

Death is always sad for our lost of a love one.But the Bible give real hope for our love ones who experience this tradgey. Our Creator give us real hope. The Bible writer Paul offered hope of relief from the last enemy."death. He wrote Death is to be brought to nothing." The last enemy to be abolished is death."(1Corthians 15:26)

My condolences to The Schimmel family. My prayers are with you all. May the love you have for Robert carry you and guide you during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed. I've attached a poem by Author, Mary Frye written in 1932. I know it by heart and read it anytime someone passes. I hope it brings a smile to some of your faces as it does mine when I've experienced a loss. Hold onto one another and take care.

"Do Not Stand by My Grave and Weep"

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
September 07, 2010

I saw you first when you learned about your son you were at the comedy store. You made it a point to stop by every so often even when you were sick and then the last time I saw you was when you were gearing up for the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition I happen to be in Cali and you did an impromptu visit and wanted to try new cancer jokes. I admire you for that (being an oncology nurse) I am happy to hear your daughter is ok. I am glad to know at least if you can not be with your daughter you are at least with your son.

Precious Aliyah,
I know your grief is great. Please remember that "time and unforeseen occurance" befalls us all. In other words, accidents happen.
So, draw close to God in prayer for he is "near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” Another beautiful assurance from God is that he also promises to comfort your heart. So Aliyah lean on him, he will not let you down.
With sympathy

September 05, 2010
2 years ago almost to the day, I sent Robert an email to see if he would be interested in visiting my brother in the hospital while my bro was battling cancer. I knew that Robert had dealt with cancer and could possibly inspire my brother. Robert called me the very next day and said he would love to visit Paul. Robert had the heart of a giant and gave the most inspirational talk to my brother while they sat side by side on the hospital bed. Sadly after Paul passed away a month later I called Robert and when I told him the news he cried. This man inspired me so much with his caring and feelings.
Robert, we will miss you and remember the nice things you have done for our family !! Say hi to my bro when you see him in heaven.
RIP
September 05, 2010
you were one of the funniest guys that ever lived. Never laughed at a comedian the way I did you. You dont have cancer anymore now. Rest in peace.
September 05, 2010
My thoughts of comfort go to all of Robert's family and friends, especially his daughter who was with him at the time of their accident and still recovers.
I lost a son three years ago four days after his car accident. It is a difficult time, and only time can heal your loss.
Remember his strength as he faced losing a son and his fight with cancer and wait for a liver transplant. He continued to entertain us and bring awareness.
May his strength continue to comfort all of you.
September 05, 2010
how ironic that we assumed that if he passed it would be the cancer, but he cheated cancer out of it's victory after all. he fought the good fight, ran the race, and so collects the prize. no more pain, no more worry, no more sadness. i've never even heard mr. schimmel's comedy, but know many who loved it. i'm sorry for their loss. may his family be comforted by knowing that he won't suffer ever again. prayers for speedy recovery to his daughter.
September 05, 2010

September 05, 2010
I am so sorry for the families loss.I pray that their pain and suffering pass quickly.I cannot even imagine what Roberts daughter will be going through, but I hope she accepts the fact that an accident is just that and not blame herself.I am sure her Dad would want her to go on,not living with guilt but living with great memories with Dad.God bless the family as a whole and again may your grief pass quickly.Sincerely James E.Yurek

Glorified and sanctified be God's great name throughout the world which He has created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen.

May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.

Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen.

May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us
and for all Israel; and say, Amen.

He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen.

You were a great comedian and loyal guest and friend of the Stern show. We enjoyed your honest stories about your life despite how hard things had become. You were a fighter and you never gave up. You will be greatly missed.
