Thank you Ronnie for your music and especially yourself.
My peace be with you now.
Your timeless music and musicianship inspired an endless number of people. You will always be an inspiration to us all,Your music will be with us forever.Rest in Peace Ronnie.
So sorry for your passing. You are one of the greatest guitar players in the world. The only thing i could honestly say is i wish you could have seen what we all seen in you and your work and how great a person you were. RIP Ronnie you are so missed by your family and fans who love you and co workers over the years.
"Music Man" says it all! Laureen, don't request he play Space Station #5 too many times up there! LOL
Ronnie is the reason that I started playing guitar. I saw him at a New Years eve show in San Francisco in the 70's and that was all it took. Thank you Ronnie, for sharing your musical gift with us. You are forever my guitar hero. RIP my friend.
Awesome performer, I caught a pick at one of their concerts in Biloxi,Ms.(1976) Still have it, Katrina wasn't about to get it along with all of my other belongings. Will always love the music!!! My deepest sympathy for the family
What a great guitarist, musician & composer who will be sorely missed. His spirit lives on in his music. I had the pleasure to meet Ronnie after so many years of following his music. What a great guy, RIP bro.
Thank you for sharing your sheer genius with us. Rest and be at peace our dear friend. You and your music will always be in my heart. With love.
Ronnie "rocked the nation". RIP
Montrose 1 was the very first LP I purchased as a 12 y/o kid, I still have the LP today, it's timeless music.
Ronnie gave birth to the American Hard Rock/Heavy Metal genre of music, he will be greatly missed.
See you on the other side, Ronnie.
Prayers and well wishes go out to his family
I had the good fortune to meet him back in the 90s. What a nice guy and such a guitar virtuoso. Rock on in heaven ronnie
I have always been a fan, but I got a chance to know what a special person he was. He was at a show here in St. Louis a couple of years ago and was overcome by our summer heat. He finished the show, but could not come out to meet his fans. His wife kindly took my album for him to sign and mailed it back to me a couple of weeks later. I will never forget their thoughtfulness.
I miss you my friend, my heart goes out to your family and friends, Ive been thinking of all the laughs and good times we used to have, you were one of a kind, God bless you buddy....
My teenage boyfriend and I saw Ronnie at a really great small club in 1978 and had just the best time, I will never forget his talent, his total class and the way he really emoted on guitar in a way I had not before experienced growing up with the Beatles who, no disrespect, just kinda chopped their chops with no real feeling. Ronnie was and will always be a real top-notch musician from the tapestry of my life.
Ronnie Montrose started it all. His phenomenal phrasing and peerless technique continued to break ground in the music industry and he was loved by so many of us. Ronnie embodied a brilliant enduring flame that will remain eternal as he will forever have 'the fire'.
RIP, Your music still plays through my speakers and always will, you were a great musician and will never be forgotten. My kids listen to it as I know there kids will listen. One of the Greatest Musicians ever. Rock Candy Baby.....
A truly "unsung" rock hero.Rest in peace Ronnie
As a guitar player, Ronnie Montrose was such an influence on me. I even tried to look like him in high school(rolled up sleeves and all) There was nobody ever in rock n roll that could get your attention like King Ronnie. He was the definition of a true guitar hero.
It was an eventful day when I got to actually meet him in person. He came to Springfield, MO to play before he went and played @ Blueberry Hill in St. Louis. It was a honor to drive him up there personally.
Bev and I will greatly miss you Ronnie!
Thank you for all the music,Our Condolence goes out to the family. May your family rely on
God in this time of grief.
Ronnie's legacy may forever be tied to the first Montrose album; but he was much more than that. One only needs to examine his "body of work", to see that it exemplified a passion he had for music. From cutting edge rock, to experimental, to instrumental; Ronnie immersed himself into these territories with equal creativity & enthusiasm, and his playing reflected this at every turn. His music; his sound; struck to your very core---and definitely took you places worth going.
On a personal note; I was able to see, & meet Ronnie on two occasions---aside from being a genuinely great guitar player; he was genuinely great person.
My thoughts & prayers to his family in this time of sorrow,
I shall never forget one of the times I saw Gamma, ronnie having the presence"WHILE PLAYING, Razor King" at the Oasis Ballroom(sacramento, ca) many years ago; to exchange guitar picks "mid-song" with a friend of mine, right there in the front of the stage, like he was just signing an autograph, he was a true "Razor King" with his performances, with that being said, he didn't even miss a note! I'll never forget his brilliance!!
thank you for all the music. our condolence goes out to your family. RIP
brilliant musician and all round good guy. RIP Ronnie you were really something.
My girfriend (now my wife)and I met Ronnie in 1974 when he came to Atlanta. Whenever he was in town he would come over and spend the evening. He was a truely good guy. The kind of guy who even had he been a talentless nobody like us you would love to have for a friend. Of course he was the most talented guitarist of his time and continued to be. His firey guitar playing will be missed not only by his fans but by all the guitar greats who are still alive. In the almost forty years that we knew him I have never seen a more powerful guitar player. Go to youtube type in tobacco road 1972 to see what I mean. He only got better. We will miss you a ton Ronnie. Thanks for the memories. You will never be forgotten. RIP Ronnie, you made your mark on this world. Doug and Pat Noland, Woodstock Georgia
It was a true honor for my daughter and I to have met and visited with Ronnie on backstage occassions... You are truly missed. Our heart felt condolences to his family.. Pam Erb (Newark, CA)
To Ronnie, thank you for the music. To your family, our condolences and love.
i am very glad to have went to see ronnie in gilroy back in october 2011.thanks for all the goodtimes your music has broughtto my life. tim schultek san jose ca
Ronnie's music is excellent and stands the test of time, yet his music should be remembered for the importance it held for the legion of rock fans that were looking for a local guitar hero in the 1970's. After seeing him for the first time at winterland in 1974, my friends and I knew we were hearing a sound that spoke to hardened rock fans as well as young adolescent boys trying hard to be cool. Ronnie showed us how to look cool and look confident just by watching how he played. He did so much more than just play music, Ronnie was the music and he transformed many of us, and you know who you are, into the self confident individuals that we are today. So thanks Ronnie for all the great music and all the memories, you made the Bay Area a great place to grow up. Steve B. (Millbrae,Ca.)
One of my 3 favorite guitarists since the Edgar Winter Group. I saw him twice live when he was touring in support of solo albums. He was one of a kind, he played what he felt and never compromised, never peaked. Glad he finally found the right woman to settle down with in his final years, by all accounts he died a happy man. Rest in peace Ronnie.
One of my favorite musicians since the early seventies, back in the Edgar Winter Group days. I have enjoyed his music ever since. I have seen Ronnie play many times over the years and loved going to his shows, he would talk and joke with his fans and was just a regular guy. He will live forever through the music he left us. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
RIP Ronnie you will be dearly missed but not forgotten
He was one of my all time favorite guitarists. I saw him play at a NAMM Show on Jan. 14, 2011 and he was fantastic as always. Rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
I worked with Ronnie on a project years ago at the Music Annex and I am also a Millbrae resident. I broke out the albums and have been soaking Ronnie in. Wow! I miss him.
My Prayers and thoughts go out to Family and friends.
Rest in peace Ronnie
I followed Ronnie Montrose's career since hearing him put down some smoking guitar riffs with the Edgar Winter Band, and then all the way through every decade of my life, and every changing music
phase Ronnie was to be playing . I wish more people knew and appreciated what he did as a musician. God Bless his family and
remember the great gift of his music he left us with to always enjoy.
R.I.P. Ronnie We will miss you.
Paul Levandoski (Lansing,Ill)

I grew up listening to Ronnie. he's still one of my favorite
guitarist. This is a huge loss.
As the editor of Mix magazine, Ronnie and I would occasionally talk about audio and music technologies and life in general.
Later, I was lucky enough to have Ronnie play on my band's first album. This week, I put together some unpublished recollections about working with him in the studio, which reveals the untold side of what he was really like.

Farewell old friend. Rest well.
Ronnie, Just wanted to thank you, what you did brought beauty to our world. You will be missed and never forgotten. RIP.
Dear Montrose Family:
I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. I was lucky to have seen Ronnie in concert in 1986 in Albany, New York. I still have fond memories of that show. It was one of my favorites, and I've been to
countless shows. He played a guitar that was in the shape of a machine gun ! I managed to be standing right in front of him from the stage. I have several Montrose and Gamma albums, and have enjoyed them immensely.
May his memory be eternal.
John Pipentacos, Tucson, AZ

From Winterland, to the Day on the Greens. From free gigs to a tiny Great American Music Hall. "Music from Here" is what he called it. He truely loved what he did. Perfectionist to a fault. But for those that got to meet him, A kind Soul. That Stare, That Stance, THAT SOUND. You only had to see him once, fan for life. always the best. He IS the sound of my youth youth. A a pioneer of Rock n Roll for many who followed. His presence is still in music today. As long as he is in our hearts and they keep beating. He will always be with us. Thoughts and Prayers to Family and Friends. A truely great loss. RIP RM.

Simply The "Best" at what he did. You know who was holding the Guitar when you heard it!
When I was Young,,,, Ronie's wizzardry pounded Rock Candy , years later at the STONE in Palo Alto saw him sweetly solo A WHITER SHADE OF PALE, I nearly cried. A fews months back , I wandered into The SHowcase In San Jose and saw a Monster Vintage Caddy parked behind main building, .... Had to ask staff who the hell is taking up two parking Spaces with tricked out Caddy> Ronniw was giving a CLINIC . I waited ,................one hour seemed to blaze by in nano seconds as riffs rang thru the walls. Felt like a kid just to shake his hand, say THANKS. I enjoyed the music from the parking lot. ......He asked what could you hear from out here,
I learned TO Listen ! !
Had the privilege to hear & meet Ronnie when he came to Lou's Blues in Indialantic, Florida on October 19 2011 & he & his band rocked the house...afterwards he gladly posed with me for a photo I will cherish forever....what a super nice guy he was..:-) my condolences to his family....:-(

When I was a teenager in the late 60's he let me stay at his home in Fairfax for a short period. I'll always be grateful for the refuge. Rest In Peace, Ronnie.
Finding out Ronnie Montrose was definately sad news. My Mom passed away in Dec. 2008 and her and my Dad were HUGE fans. They had been to his concerts and listened to his music all the time. His music was a way for my Dad to be able to still connect with my Mom. It definately hit my Dad pretty hard. Our thoughts are with his family.
One of my favorite guitarists of all time. Rest in peace Ronnie.
Best memory.. Me.. three friends, a 73 Pontiac Firebird and a trip up US 50 to S Lake Tahoe.. Rock Candy Blasting all the way... RIP Ronnie
I was so excited to see Ronnie & his band perform in Dallas last Oct. (2011). It means even more now. Having grown up with his music I had forgotten the positive impact it made on my life. I was an up & coming kickboxer & often trained with Montrose & Gamma during workouts. Seeing him in concert in October as a retired champion I relived those days through Ronnie's music. I wish he knew how much his songs changed & inspired my life. You are greatly missed Ronnie.
I have been a loyal fan since 1973. Ronnie made my life better through his music. I played every record on Sunday as I'm sure many did. I was thrilled to meet him once, a true gentleman who appreciated his fans. I would like to express my sincre condolences to the family. Ronnie was loved by many as is evidenced by the thousands of facebook postings. You Rocked A Nation, now Rock the Heavens...
Get on your bad motor scooter and ride Ronnie travel well, Rock the Heaven's like you Rocked the Earth. You will be greatly missed.
prayers to your family.
I saw Ronnie play the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver in I believe in the early 80's.
I have been to many concerts, however his was the only I have ever been where the audieance was blown away speachless after one of his solo's. An odd silence then an eruption of ovations. The most incredible guitarist of my lifetime. He will live on through his music. Ronnie RIP. My prayers are with and for his family (Thornton Colorado)
Mrs. Montrose - When someone as well known as your husband Ronnie passes, everyone that knew of him is affected. Please know that you are not alone, and receive the condolences of those who care for you. May the strength that God gives strengthen you during your time of bereavement and help you and your family adjust in the days ahead.
To The Montrose Family,
I am deeply saddened to learn of Ronnie's passing. He was an incredible, inventive, guitarist. Such technique, such a gift, and, alas, such a great loss.
The walls of Heaven are rockin'...
Ronnie was one of my favorite guitarists ever going back to his days with the Winter brothers, and others before he blazed his own trail into rockgod status. Awesome player taken too soon!
The 1st time I saw Ronnie live was in the 70s, the spotlight came on him and he jumped from atop of a set of stacked amps and broke into "Rock Candy", I was hooked from that moment on. Saw him numerous times after that and was always hard rockin. Such a sad and tragic loss, he's already missed. My DEEPEST condolences to his wife Leighsa and his family. Ride that Bad Motor Scooter in Rocker Heaven Ronnie, and Rest in Peace.
My condolences to Ronnie's wife, daughter, and grandchildren. Sorry for your loss. Please find solace in prayer at this time of bereavement. Psalms 66:19

Saw Ronnie at a Dallas concert last fall. He was in fine form- upbeat, as fast as ever, and technically brilliant. He had a huge smile on his face for most of the show. He was also gracious to the talented kids in the opening act and showed them "how we did it back in the '70s." RIP, Razor King.

The Standing Ovations have just begun,
RIP Ronnie Montrose. You provided many great R&R memories for us. You will never be forgotten.
I saw Montrose on a bill in Amarillo, TX in the 1970's. They were simply incredible and ruined me for the unfortunate main act that followed them! I couldn't get over 'Bad Motor Scooter' with Ronnie's spot on impersonation of a motor bike and the sheer power and energy of the band. The whole place was just rocking! We didn't want to let them leave, even after several encores...kind of like now.
Thanks for the lovely fun memories Ronnie
Ronnie, You are by far one of the GREATS! This is horrible news! I remember trading toys with the neighbor for her Warner Bros. Presents album. Lots of memories to the Montrose album, Rock Candy... Thank you for the GREAT music! Thank you so much! You'll be missed but NEVER forgotten.
Thanks for all the beauty you added to the world through your music. My heart goes out to all the family and friends you left behind. God bless you and may your soul rest in peace.
