For Roy...

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

To the Scheider family.

Considering that the volume of thoughts and prayers can be overwhelming, we waited until now to send you this note. We were fortunate enough to do business with Roy a few years ago. We sold him the Convertible and delivered it to your home in time for Christmas. He sent us an autographed picture which we display proudly on our dealership's "wall of fame". Many of our friends and customers have enjoyed seeing it and talking about Roy and how he entertained them. We just wanted to let you know that we will use that picture as a tribute to his memory.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family,

Your Friends at The Transportation Station.

To Mr. Scheider's Family,

I, like many of my peers, saw Jaws in 76, and was terrified and mesmerized at the time. I was so captured by Mr. Scheider's performance it led to me over the years searching out his other roles, and what a wonderful treat I received. Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

February 13, 2008

February 12, 2008
I was so sad to hear of Roy Scheider's passing. Since I was a little kid I always loved the Jaws movies. So much so, that when I had a baby 3 yrs. ago, I named him Brody, after Chief Brody from the movie. It was always a secret wish of mine to someday be able to meet Mr. Scheider and tell him that his most famous character has a new namesake. I wonder what he would've thought about that. He will be missed greatly. I'm going to cry now.

God Will Heal
By; Charles G. Turner, Sr.

When our lives are filled with turmoil and strife
Just pray to God
And he will heal and make things right

When things go wrong as they sometimes do
Just take it to the God
And he will see you through

Also remember during times of sickness and sorrow
And the pain seems to linger so long.
Just Know that when you take it to God
He will heal and make you strong

February 11, 2008
As Chief Brody you were a hero to my 5 year old grandson. One of his wishes from the Make a Wish foundation was to meet you. His bedroom is painted as if underwater with sharks swimming and the Orca boat on the ceiling. He is inconsolable. At Hope hospital he is know as Shark Boy. He sure loved you Roy.
February 11, 2008
To the family of Roy Scheider,

May he rest knowing that his star will always be burning as when he was in Jaws and 2010, his roles inspired me not only to enjoy a good movie, but be inspired to write my own in which I would of loved to have had him staring in it. May the Lord thy God welcome His Servant Roy into His Holy Sanctuary into the Promised Land of Milk and Honey of the New Jerusalem. May God Bless You All. Shalom.

February 11, 2008
I was 12 years old living at Loring AFB Maine, Our vacations were always in Bar Harbor, that was the first summer I ever read a novel and it happened to be Jaws,it goes without saying I never went into the water. I loved your style of work, there was no other choice for the character of Sheriff Brody, each and every summer when we go to the beaches I can't help but think of you. February 11, 2008
I am shocked to hear of your passing...loved you in Blue Thunder (when the helicopter appears over the bridge suddenly) and in Jaws.

You will be truly missed...
February 11, 2008
My heartfelt sympathy to all the Scheider family ~ the world is truly a lesser place without Roy. I was vacationing with my family on Martha's Vineyard back in 1974 when the filming of Jaws was taking place, and have always been irresistably drawn to the movie whenever it comes on television ever since (which is still quite often! A true testament to the great performances of Scheider, Dreyfuss and Shaw). Here's hoping that he's in a happier, more peaceful place on that "bigger boat" up in the sky!
February 11, 2008
You were the hi-light of the Jaws trilogy. I'll never forget you and the saying you gonna need a bigger boat. Rest in Peace.
February 11, 2008
In Memory of Roy Scheider,
You will be dearly missed. Thanks for all the memories, especially,
the following scenes: Chief Brody and Matt Hooper try to convince the mayor of how big the shark is....
the tooth the size of a shot glass,
you don't have the tooth, "you would love to get your name in the National Geographics"....Sick vandalism.....I would like to hang them up by their Buster Browns....also when Chief Brody, Matt Hooper, and Captain Quint are
singing "Show Me The Way to Go Home". Thank you Roy!
February 11, 2008
Roy-you were one of the most underrated actors of our time. You were terrific in Jaws, as well as many other films, including The French Connection, Blue Thunder, and Klute. I will truly miss having you around.

February 11, 2008
I was very shocked and sadden to hear of your sudden passing. I'll always remember you for the movie line you made famous......'You're going to need a bigger boat'. May your family find peace in knowing now you are resting in Our Heavenly Father's arms.
February 11, 2008
So
Sad to hear of Roy Scheiders death.I thought he was terrific in every
thing he was in especially All that Jazz.I will always remember the
scene in Jaws when he is spotting something in the water and the camera

Rarely has someone been able to participate in what so many people refer to as a "life changing event". Growing up at the beach, Chief Brody and the cast accomplished that. I just used the "bigger boat" line this weekend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
February 11, 2008
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
February 11, 2008

February 11, 2008
Roy, you contributed so much to this world and I'm one of the many people who was touched by your beauty. Thank you. You will be missed.
February 11, 2008
Roy, along with Eastwood, Hackman, Bronson, and Marvin, you epitomized the '70s cinematic tough guy. From fighting French drug dealers to taking on Nazi war criminals to battling a killer shark, you thrilled me as a kid who saw your movies with his father and grandfather. You cannot be replaced, and you will be missed.
February 11, 2008
My son is named "Brody" and he is always referenced to the character Roy played in Jaws. We will never forget him! God Bless

February 11, 2008
one of the greatest!
February 11, 2008
Roy Schieder was a consummate actor whom we knew and expected wonderful and masterful performances from. In each role he was always believable, credible and engaging to watch. We will miss his performances and the movie world has lost one of its' best.
February 11, 2008
Roy Scheider was orginally introduced to me thru his role as Cpt. Nathan Bridger in "SeaQuest DSV". I was 13, i was in love with Jonathan Brandis (another terrible loss) and dreamed about the show religiously. As such, I have always held a tenderness for the cast of SeaQuest; and am very saddened to see another cast member, an estemeed pop-culture icon (Jaws) depart. I hope he felt peace.

all that jazz* heather
February 11, 2008
The "Seven Ups " is the best action film ever! You gave me a look at what is possible and showed what an "Upper Westsider" can do. As you turned us on to "EST" please let us know what you are doing now there? In true respect & love, Sugar Ray robinson II
February 11, 2008
Actors of his quality are rare. He put himself into the parts he played, not just performing to the camera. He was aware the whole time of his audiences. He helped some of us momentarily top escape from our everyday cares. He also conveyed a gentlemanly conduct, a respect for the best things of life, whilst never carping about his personal problems to the public. Wherever he is now: "all the Very Best, Mr Schieder, and thank you. We shall continue to watch your films with great enjoyment."
February 11, 2008
My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead. Each time I see the burst of happiness on Mr. Scheider's face in, "Jaws" as he defeats the shark, I will remember what a talented man he was.
February 11, 2008
February 11, 2008
A great loss for all of us. He was one of a kind. I hope you find that "bigger boat." Thanks for the memories, Mr Scheider.
February 11, 2008
Roy Scheider was a great actor, and I really enjoyed watching him in his movies, with one of my favorites being the little known film, "Sheila Levine Is Dead and Living in New York." I also loved him in "Jaws" and "Jaws II" and "All That Jazz." I was also glad to hear that he was one of the few actors who spoke out against the Iraq war early on. What a great man. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
February 11, 2008

February 11, 2008

February 11, 2008
When I found out about Roy's death I was actually doing a google search on his work. I wanted to see what movie I wanted to watch next for him. And at one point I came across a news article saying that Roy Scheider had died and I was thinking it can't be. I thought it was a mistake, but unfortunately it wasn't. I was really saddened and upset by the news. I had been watching some of his work just last week and I even had a dream about him two nights ago. I dreamt that me and him were supposed to do lunch, but as most dreams go, I never managed to do that in the dream and I was really upset by that.

I was born 5 years after Jaws came out, but when I did watch Jaws, I was mesmerized and became an instant fan of Mr. Scheider. After that I always looked out for anything that he was in and made sure to watch. He was amazing in All That Jazz, The French Connection, and the countless other films he did. I was never into sci-fi shows, but when he did Seaquest, I definitely tuned in and never missed an episode.

We not only lost a great actor, we lost a great man. He promoted education, diversity, tolerance, and peace.

You will be missed Mr. Scheider, but you'll live forever in our hearts and through your movies.

Love ya and miss you!

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

February 10, 2008
His portrait of Bob Fosse was so memorable. Not many guys would have the moxy to hold their own with Jessica the angel. He was class all the way. And as noted by many, his, "You're going to need a bigger boat" line is one of the great lines of all time. He'll be missed.
February 10, 2008

February 10, 2008
I think we'll need a bigger guestbook. You were the best Roy!
February 10, 2008
I remember so many things about this wonderful actor and thoroughly decent man, but I'll always hear a defeated Chief Brody ask his little boy for a kiss. When Sean asks why, the Chief tells him that he needs it.

We loved you for all the moments you gave us on the big screen, and you are already missed, Mr. Scheider.
February 10, 2008
Dear Roy,
You always played "the brave man with a soul" so well. When I need some curage I will think of your roles and the heros you depicted.
In other words" how would Roy play this?"
February 10, 2008
I saw Jaws when it first opened in the summer of 1975, at a Saturday matinee in mid-town Manhatten. The theater was packed with kids, teenagers, and plenty of young mothers. After the shark attack in the opening scene, a hush - a silence borne in fear - settled over the audience for the remainder of the film, until it was interrupted by wild cheering at the film's conclusion. Now, that my friends is a blockbuster! In between the eccentricity of Richard Dreyfuss and craziness of "Quinn," was the common man, played to perfection by Roy Schdeider. Thanks for a memorable performance.
February 10, 2008
Roy, you pulled me in. I don't know exactly how, but you did. I'm sorry to know you're no longer with us - RIP.
February 10, 2008
My condolences go out to Roy's family. He was a great actor, and I'm sure he was wonderful in life, also. Seeing Jaws in the theater for my 13th birthday has always been a great memory for me. Roy and his fear of water in that movie have always crossed my mind whenever I saw water over the years. Although, I did not know him personally, I feel as though I did. May God help you through your pain, and may Roy rest in peace.
February 10, 2008
My prayers are with Roy's family and friends at this time of sorrow of his passing. He was a great actor. He will be missed by his fans. God took you home, but we will have you forever in our memories and hearts. Rest in Peace Dear Roy.

Roy Scheider should not be remembered just for Jaws, but for his entire works. Marathon Man and All that Jazz are two that come to mind. A loss for anyone that appreciates a great acting.
