July 30, 2012
Tears to the passing of a female legend who, like another aviatrix with her plane, this one with a spaceship, dared to dream the impossible, and go to space. Sally, you did give us a "Ride" we will never forget, or you. Thank you, for your dedication, and girl's dreams, that, heh, we can do this too, and it is not just a "man's" world. Women all over the world thank you. You'll always be in the history books for what you have accomplished and what you did, and nobody can take that away from you. You will always be remembered.
July 30, 2012
When I was a little girl I wanted to be just like her and go into space. I wish I had known she was sick. I would have prayed for her.
July 29, 2012
I knew Sally from her activities at Stanford University and as a fellow member of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board. She was a dedicated scientist who strove to push the limits of human activity beyond this fragile planet. We will all miss her.

July 28, 2012
Sally,

Thank you for your service to our country in the name of science. Some of us were never meant to carry a gun into battle; your battle was to push back every frontier you encountered.

I'd hoped to thank you at the final CAIB public hearing in Washington, but there were too many around you. That proved to be a pivotal moment, one that led to the safe conclusion of the STS program. My family and I were invited to Florida to watch the final launch.

Now, you're in Heaven, you know the whole story. I'll bet you were amazed by who was there to welcome you home.
Now, you rest. See you someday.
July 28, 2012
You blazed a trail so that other women can follow. May you RIP.
July 28, 2012
Although I was born too soon to be an astronaut, Sally Ride demonstrated that women are making some advances in science. I followed her career with joy, and was excited when she became a physics professor after leaving NASA. She left an important mark on women's and scientists' history. I'll miss knowing that she was still inspiring young scientists. My respects to her loved ones at losing such a special person.

July 26, 2012
Dr. Ride was an amazing woman. Even before she had the courage (like all astronauts) to go into space, she had the courage to insist on studying physics when most of us girls were discouraged from pursuing any higher mathematical or scientific studies. I wonder how many girls and women have discovered a love of science or math and the opportunity to pursue careers in those fields because of Sally? Imagine the discoveries that will be made and how many lives have been, and will be, improved as a result of Sally's influence on girls and women! Now THAT's a LEGACY!!!

May God give peace, strength, and comfort to all of Sally's family and friends. May her memory be eternal!

Sally visited my home when she and her friend Molly were students at Stamford. She played tennis with my daughter at lake Tahoe. They stayed with us in San Diego so that they could go to the Shaksperian Festival in S.D. We had so much fun,and she brightened my household with her smile and optimism. She loved my meals and like the good ole days sent us a beautiful Thank You note. My daughter Pam, and I cried, and asked God to put his loving arms around Sally, that beautiful woman would gave us all HOPE.She died on my daughters birthday. Patricia Connolly Russell

This is really hard day for those of us in the NASA family. I worked in Houston first in Communications Control and then in Houston Comm Tech. How well I remember STS-7. You and Crip and Hauck and Fabian and Thagard all blasting off in space together. I still remember the downlink TV of your hair flying in all different directions. Like I stated before, WE WERE ALL FAMILY. Those of us on the ground working weren't going to let anything happen to any of you. The pre-mission chili cook offs and then after WOW , weight on wheels, J Larkins. I felt terrible when we lost Judy Resnick and this is just as bad. Sally, you made it possible for me to be one of the first women hired in my section. What an inspiration you've been for all of us women who wanted to follow in your foot steps and fly. Some of us weren't good enough but you were. May you be in the arms of Jesus right now telling him how you wanted to slip the bounds of earth to view the heavens. LOL always, Sue Moulton- Houston Comm Tech

July 24, 2012
I remember it all as if it was yesterday. I was 16 and really into astronomy and science and Ms. Ride's shuttle mission was the highlight of that for me. Unfortunately i didnt persue the sciences since I am abysmal in math but I none-the-less felt so very inspired! It was so cool, cover of all the magazines at the time and I thought we (girls/women) have FINALLY arrived at NASA! She will be dearly missed and I send my thoughts and prayers to her family at this time.

I remember learning about Sally Ride when I was in school...so sad that this accomplished woman had a life shortened by another terrible cancer. What a relief it would be to live in a world without cancer or any other sickness. Until then may the God of "comfort and tender mercies" support Sally's family during these difficult moments. 1 Corinthians 2:3,4
July 24, 2012

July 23, 2012
It was a "blast" to get to know you at some of the shuttle launch parties in Cocoa Beach. Those were were the days. You will be greatly missed.
July 23, 2012
Dr. Ride; You were an inspiration to me, a sign that if I only worked hard enough, then, I'd be in the skies as well. I didn't exactly become an astronaut (severe asthma kept me from even trying), but I made it to the top branch in my career. Like you, I made it without having to act, speak and pretend I was a man. Hearing of your death today is quite a blow - the owman in whose footsteps I had followed would no longer leave footsteps. I suppose a simple "what would Sally do?" should work as well. May you rest in peace, knowing that you inspired a generation of girls to shoot for the stars.
July 23, 2012
I wish I could have met you. My name is Madeleine. Thank you for going into space when my mommy was little.
July 23, 2012
She was a great educator. Just her trust and understanding was an inspiration. I wish her family the solace of knowing a great person and helping her final days. It is so hard to know someone who cannot survive a challenge like cancer. It is so much harder to help them knowing the result. Peace to the family. Peace to Sally.

To Sally Ride Family,

It will be the little things
that you will remember,
the quiet moments,
the smiles, the laughter.
And although it may seem
hard right now,
it will be the memories
of these little things
that help to push
away the pain
and bring the smiles
back again.

With Loving Memories
God Bless,
