You were an angel on earth. And now you will be an angel in Heaven. God bless your soul.

For Teresa...

Lady...you were really something.

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

I graduated from Waite High School in 1947. Your Mom was a year younger and I remember her well. I had a "hay ride" date with her that for some reason I wasn't able to keep. She wrote a nice note in my annual which I treasure. I can remember like yesterday her performing in the school's annual musical. I still love and listen to her songs but remember her most as just a really nice person. God bless you and your families in this sad loss.
November 13, 2007
I used to sing "put another nickle in..." to my daughter when she was a baby and she loved it. Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers.

I just now heard of Miss Brewer's passing, and it deeply saddens me.

My earliest memories are of my mother singing to her records and I've loved her voice from that moment on.

My deepest sympathies to her family: I never knew Miss Brewer personally, but I sincerely loved her well.

To the children and family of Teresa Brewer I send my deepest sympathy. I was born in 1956 so I don't really recall Ms. Brewer's music. My mom however loved her with a passion! So much so that she named me after her. I have always loved the fact that my name was spelled without an "H" in it. For the longest time, until I was an adult, I never ran into any Teresa's spelled "our" way. I am sure my Mommy has given your Mommy a great big "Welcome to Heaven!" May God continue to keep you and your families in his care, and may my namesake forever rest in peace.
October 22, 2007
My condolences to all the family. On my honeymoon, in 1963, we went to Las Vegas and Teresa was there, my husband and I both fell in love with her there. All thru the next years, we both so enjoyed her singing for many more years. She truly will be missed. Blessings to you and yours, I'm sure she's watching from above!

It has become a tradition with my own children listening on Christmas morn. Our old album is so scratchy from long use & I've searched endlessly for a copy or remake to keep my family tradition going. Her voice was sweet & calming & she was a beautiful person.

How I loved "Til I Waltz Again With You"! WHen I was in the fifth grade I surprised my friends and entered a talent show singing that song in the familar Thersa Brewer style with the country "cracks" in the voice. I won the first prize...a five dollar bill! From there I entered every local talent show for the next few years, mostly at the "Town Hall" in my very small home town in NH. I still have the sheet music which now I will frame.
With fond memories love and sympathy.
Sincerely,
Lorraine Varney
October 21, 2007
My thoughts and prayers are with you folks , What a talent we have lost ! I used to work for a mentally challenged woman who would sing "Let Me Go ,Lover " without skipping a beat or note .That was my intro to the great singer . She brought a lot of joy to our lives !!
October 21, 2007
The first record I ever heard by Teresa Brewer, was "Till I Waltz Again With You". I put many a coin in the jukebox to hear it. Loved the flip side, "Hello, Bluebird!"

I learned that her first #1 was in 1950, with "Music! Music! Music!" on London Records. It's magical!

I still have many of those 45's. Also have some of her jazz output. She really was so talented, that she could even do a mean yodel!

It's hard to let go of Teresa Brewer. But her voice will always be with us.

It was so inspiring to learn that she put her family, first!

My heartfelt condolences to her family!

Al Manook,
formerly of Alaska.

I grew up in the 50's and my all time favoite song was "Til I Waltz Again With You". I would listen to my old 45 until I about wore it out and then go get another one. Her voice was pure gold. I also liked every single other song she ever sang. When we recently had our Fiftieth Class Reunion, I had my son make cd's of all my old favorites from the 50's for each member of our class. Naturally I had every single hit she had, including "Doesn't Anybody Want To Meet A Good Old Fashioned Girl", wich was one that wasn't named in her obituary. My favorite led the pack, but they were all so great. She had such a youthful and special voice that you could enjoy any song she sang. Not only I will miss her, but all of the DHS Class of 55 and that whole era. She was the greatest!

To Teresa's Daughters:
I was in grade school when your Mother first appeared on t.v. and she caught the attention of my entire family. We were amazed that such a dynamic voice came out of such a tiny person. She's with us as we still listen to her recordings, and KAAM 770 AM radio here in Dallas Texas still plays your Mother's music. You can certainly take comfort in knowing that she was well respected by the public. She was one of the 'Greats'.

To the Brewer Family,
As a child, Teresa Brewer was one of my all time favorite performers. Now to some, in the 1950s that seemed kind of strange, especially since I was a young black girl in Mississippi - but it was because Teresa's personality and stage presence crossed all lines!!! She was a talented LADY and a STAR!!

Oh, what terribly sad news to hear this morning that Teresa Brewer has passed away. I was born in 1951 and I have always loved the old standards. My Dad so loved listening to Teresa sing, she was one of his favorites. Now they are both in Heaven ... she will now be singing with the angels! My sincere condolences to Ms. Brewer's daughters and the rest of her family.

God guide and direct her soul. I have fond memories of singing her songs which were printed in Hit Parade Magazine, while sitting on my porch in a country town when I was 15 yrs old. I always wanted a voice as "big and wonderful" as hers. Seems she was as wonderful a person as she was a singer.

Such a gift, you were given. Thank you for sharing with us, your adoring fans. Peace be with you now in Heaven. God bless you and your family.

Thank you so much for your music. When I was a child, your music encouraged me to sing and I absolutely drove my family insane singing "Put Another Nickel In." It was you who inspired me to sing and gave me the love for the old standards that I still have today. Rest in peace.

My Dad is such a fan that he made sure I was named after her. I have wonderful memories of listening to her beautiful music with my Dad.
We are blessed that we have her music to continue beautiful memories!!!

I was born July 12, 1957 and my mom named me Ava Teresa. Ava was after Ava Gardner and Teresa was after Teresa Brewer. My moms maiden name was Brewer. When people ask me about my name, I always tell the story about being named after 2 famous people. I'm sorry to hear about Ms Brewers passing as I have always felt some kind of connection with her.

Club" , a USO club in Boston in 1953.

I remember she could really "sing" out a song. She was a tiny little lady with a "BIG" talent. May the family find comfort in knowing she gave many people joy while watching & listening to her perform. Go With God, Teresa.

On behalf of our entire Family, we wish to convey our sympathy to Teresa Brewer's Family and Thank them for allowing thier beautiful Mother to entertain us and be a part of our Families too.
That beautiful little lady with such a big voice made us sing and dance for many years, I really loved " Nickelodeon" I can hear her singing it as I am writing this to you. She was one of the best of that era and I don't think we will have any as good anytime soon.
God Bless and love your memories of her.

I'd like to offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends and fans of this lovely entertainer. Her wonderful voice was part of my childhood memories, as my parents had the record "The One Rose", recorded 3 years before I was born. I loved to listen to that song and have sang it acapella over the years for my loved ones. Thank you to this lovely woman who gave us so much. I am a fan forever.
