Rev T.J. Jemison baptized my husband, my brother and myself many years ago when we were all young. My mother and father and my husband's mother were members of Mount Zion Baptist Church for many years. Dr T.J. Jemison left this world a much better place. He came to office in the National Baptist Convention U.S.A. Inc. at a time of much uncertainty. He led wisely and well. The road that this generation of leaders travel was paved by this great leader. A great man has transitioned.

Dr. Jemison was a blessing to us all. He was a friend of my uncle, the late Rev. Joseph West, and he was a strong civil rights activist in this city helping to make a difference for all people of color. My prayers and sympathy go out to the family.

I was one of those who was made happy by Rev. Jemison. He helped me while I was in college; drove a long distance on the Saturday before the NBC, USA, Inc Annaul meeting to perform my wedding seremony in rural North Louisiana; encouraged and supported me throughout my professional life. I didnt know who lived in that large white house on the corner but what i knew is whomever lived there put a shinning light in my Spirit when i would pass -by and see the lanterns burning .... I soon found out who that person was it wasn't a surprise to me that he was a Spritual Icon ..
