Well Tony now that Jack Klugman has joined you I'll bet God hasn't stopped laughing. You were both great actors but more than anything else you were both good men and Wonderful human beings. My kids ask me once why I watch the old shows like the odd couple on you tube and never watch any new shows. I told them cause back when you and Jack were on tv shows were written well, they were about people and situations not what people are or may have. In your day we turned on the tube to get away from things in life, to forget for just a little while real life that can bring you down and shut you down. You and others of that time did just that, made us happy for just a little while. May God keep you near to him so you can be an angel sent down when needed, you know make someone happy even for just a little bit. Miss ya but I hope to see you someday when its my turn. Your the best!!!!

For Tony...

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

I really enjoyed seeing Mr. Randall on Letterman. He glowed when he spoke of his family.
He gave so much to us- his fans: in movies, in television, on the stage. How wonderful that he received that energy back through his family, friends, and work all through his life, but especially those last years. Not many people go into their later years with children and creative fullfilment as he did.

Thanks, Mr. Randall. I hope you are up there cracking God up now with your antics.
July 01, 2004
Dearest Mr. Randall,
As long as there is beauty in the world, you can never die. Every day I pray that your family and friends will realize this and take comfort.
As for myself, every time I listen to beautiful music, or watch a fine play, movie, or television show, I will think of you.
God bless you. God bless and comfort your wife, your children, and your dear friends, especially Mr. Klugman.
Love,
Nicole,
Fan of "The Odd Couple"

TO THE RANDALL FAMILY:
AS A CHILD I GREW UP WATCHING MR.TONY RANDALL ON THE ODD COUPLE,AND AS A TEENAGER I WATCHED HIM ON THAT SAME SHOW AND NOW AS AN ADULT I WATCH HIS RE-RUNS. HE TOUCHED SO MANY OF US THROUGH HIS ACTING, SENSE OF HUMOR, AND GENOROSITY. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED, BUT REMEMBERED ALWAYS.
THANK YOU FOR LOANING HIM TO US.
June 04, 2004
I hope someday the Randalls will find these words and take comfort.

When I was sixteen, I got a free book from Weyerhauser Paper Company. "How To Use The Power of the Printed Word." Your father told readers how to determine word definitions. Pictured as Sherlock Holmes and as Caesar, I will never forget his advice: "Look for the root!" (And now I'm a writer, and like him, a lover of words and the craft)

In a time when 'image' is cultivated by publicists, your father was never short of having his own ideas to express. He was erudite, funny and self effacing, never afraid to laugh at himself and make the world feel as if they were in on the joke.

I think it's terrific that he had children at the age of 77. And how wonderful to have found love.... for he proved that one is never to old for love and affection, and that no one should ever limit themselves when it comes to finding the person to cultivate their interests and life with.

I hope that the love he showered on you stays with you your whole life. The warmth and joy he received from watching you grow, no doubt gave him much solace during his last years.

He showed us to not be bothered with triteness, rather to envelope only those things that mattered, 'the root' of all things. Your father was a tree with strong roots and lovely branches that covered us with the shade of wisdom.

My very best to all of you.
June 04, 2004
The world has lost a wonderful talent. Tony will be missed, but his work will live on with us forever.

May 21, 2004
I had the pleasure of working with Tony a few years back and would like to share with you my experience. At the time I was producing a Food Show in New York and Eagle Snacks brought Tony in as a celebrity guest. Upon his arrival he let me know that for the next few hours he worked for me and would be happy to take my direction. I was astounded. I was so used to working with people that were so full of themselves. Here was the great Tony Randall being humble and so very cooperative. My only problem was that he would just go into the crowds and start shaking hands and I was concerned for his safety. What he told me after was that it was the people that made him and he would never turn away from a fan. In fact at the time he was doing M Butterfly and took public transportation to work each day. He embraced the public and never thought he was better than anyone else. He was a real person. The humor was not put on. He really was a very funny person. My husband was taking pictures of him and the Eagle Snacks people and he stopped to give my guy a lesson in picture taking to make the old look young.I have always been so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet him and spend some time with him. I was so happy to learn that he found new happiness after his wife passed. If anyone deserved it he did. He was a credit to his craft, a great humanitarian, and someone who will not be forgotton. I am honored to have had the opportunity to have met him.

I had only begun to appreciate Mr. Randall's talent in new light when my local station began showing The Odd Couple again after many years. Mr. Randall and Jack Klugman made this better than the movie or stage versions. Tony Randall shared my love of New York City. He was a marvelous actor who took roles below his considerable talent and spun gold from them. My condolences to his family and numerous friends.

TO THE TONY RANDALL FAMILY, HEATHER & CHILDREN.
IN OCT. 1986 I PHOTOGRAPHED TONY AT HIS APT. ON CENTRAL PARK I WILL NEVER FORGET OUR MEETING IT WAS SUCH A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH HIM. WHEN I ARRIVED AND RANG HIS DOORBELL, ALL THAT CAME OUT AROUND THE DOOR WAS HIS WONDERFULL GOLD WATCH AND A VOICE BEHIND THE DOOR THAT I WAS EXACTLY ON TIME FOR THE APPOINTMENT. HE HAD SUCH A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR.THE ARTICLE WAS ABOUT CENTRAL PARK AND WE DECIDED THAT HANGING OUT THE WINDOW WITH A VIEW OF CPW WAS GOOD. I CAME WITH A FRIEND WHO HELD HIS LEGS AS HE GOT AS MUCH OUT THE WINDOW AS POSSIBLE AS I PHOTOGRAPHED HIM FROM ANOTHER WINDOW. While so many of Tony's fans probably remember his work on THE ODD COUPLE TV Series...I will always cherish the 8 parts he portrayed in the George Pal Film: 7FACES OF DR. LAO. Tony displayed a great deal of versality in that movie. While the picture didn't do as well as the producer had hoped, everybody should see it.

Thanks for giving us another terrific performance, Tony.

A man of incredible talent and life long dedication to his craft. His love of entertaining made him a joy to watch no matter what the occasion. Beyond those things he is to be admired, and sorely missed, for the passionate integrity he showed in forming and continuing with the National Actors' Theatre, as well as his courage in beginning a family late in his life.
Mr. Randall will be a lasting inspiration for all those things.

If there is a theatre company in the next life, they are now incredibly enriched.

A marvelous talent, and a true credit to the entertainment community. A devoted husband, first to Florence for 54 years, then to Heather, who gave him two precious gifts late in life: a daughter and a son. Thank you Mr. Randall for your life, your talent, and your committment to the theatre. Any true fan recognizes that there was so much more to you than Felix Unger. You played the role brilliantly, as you did in all your work. Remember Tony Randall as a true patron of the arts. His loss is a blow not only to his fans, but most especially to his wife Heather, his daughter Julia, and his son Jefferson. Kids, your father adored you, and he is very proud of you. Uphold the legacy he has left you. Heather, you are a remarkable woman. My sincerest condolences to you and your children. Long live the memory of Tony Randall!
