Yesterday I was traveling behind your vehicle and saw the "In memory of" sticker on your back window. It brought tears to my eyes and a knot in my stomach. I came home (Peoria) and googled your sons name. Thank you for that sticker. It reminded me of the personal sacrifice so many young men and women and their families have made so I can live the American life of freedom and the pursuit of happiness. We are so very blessed to live in the greatest country on earth but it does come at such a high cost. It's so easy for people like me who have not paid that very personal cost to enjoy daily life in forgetful bliss. Thank you, family of Army Spc Nicholas E. Wilson, for reminding me. I never want to forget. None of use should ever forget. But the truth is, for those of us who's cost has not been so great, so personal and so painful, we can never begin to comprehend the true cost of freedom like people like you who will feel that cost so deeply every single day for the rest of your lives. I am so sorry for the loss of your son (and brother). Though years have passed, I know there is not a single day that goes by without you thinking of him and hurting from the depths of your soul. That is the true cost of freedom that I will never know. Thank you again for reminding me. I promise, even though I never knew your son, I will not forget.

I wish I had met you sweet young man...I know you thru the stories shared by others...the miracle of your life, storm chasing, your cat Mineau (sp), your courage, your humor, your last Vegas trip, your shopping trip for your buddies, and most of all, the love your family has for you. Sweet Nick, you did indeed give all. May you live on in peace and adventure...

I thank God that I was able to mentor this soldier. It was an honor to serve with him. I will never forget or let others forget my fallen brothers. R.I.P. Brother
