We miss you so much. It is hard and I would not wish this on anyone. I can still hear your voice and remember what you said. Kids are growing up way too fast!! I told our daughter how much you loved music and that you are with her in music and orchestra classes. She loved it! I told her it is her bond with her Daddy. I know you are there. She confirmed it that day I was sitting there talking to you and she sat next to me and said I feel like Daddy is right up there. I knew you could hear me. Just miss you talking back...crying to much, got to go. I like we can talk to you on here. Like we have you all to ourselves. XOXOXOX

Dad, it is me your one and only daughter. Dad I miss you so much I wish I got to know you and I wonder what it is like to have a Dad. I have grown a lot. I am in third grade. I am nine years old. Mom said you are handsome just like my little brother. WE love you Dad!!! I wish I could have learned the stuff Mom doesn't know about you. Dad I would give anything to dance with you and sing. That we could have memories together with more pictures and videos. To know your voice, hugs and kisses like Mom does. To hear your laugh and share our days together and be a family together. You are my only Dad and only mine! It is not fair everyone else got years with you and I got 2 days with you that I can't even remember with you dad. Why couldn't you have spent your spare time with me!! I Love you a lot. I wish we had a Male role model in our lives and it hurts that it is not you.

It is extremely tough without you....miss being able to at least talk with you. We celebrated life and your memory. Our kiddos are growing up so fast. I make mistakes but am doing my best to get by all by myself. They are strong and the most amazing kids ever. Sometimes I wonder if things would be different if I would have married you in Mississippi. I will never forget it or how excited you were about us living together, you said it would be like this...the condo time together. The smile on your face. I wish I could talk to you and get rid of all this stress. I wish the kids had memories with you. You would have been an awesome Dad. Still see you singing to her, rocking her to sleep. Love you Andrew Lara and you are a huge part of our family. Keep watching after us and please guide me through next week either way it goes, please be with me.

Hey Love! I think of you EVERY single day and miss you so much. Our daughter has grown way too much....LOL! I just wish you were here to enjoy her. She had so much to learn and gain from you. It is very hard Drew, but I know you are proud of me. Boy did I need you to talk to through all the horrific things that happened right after you died, because you are the only one who would understand. We are finally out of all of it, like you always wanted. I know I will never find a man who knew me like you and vice versa. We love you so much even my son decided you are his dad, which I know you would love. We Love You Andrew Lara!! xoxox

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

In Humble Tribute, to this Brave Young Soldier, who has lost his life, while in the Service of our Country, with deep gratitude for his Courage, and his Unselfish Dedication and Service.

May SPC Andrew E. Lara, rest safely now, in the Hands of God and may the Peace of God be with the Lara family.
Those who Make these Sacrifices, So Many and So Young, shall Never Be Forgotten, my brother among them, killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.

I am sincerely hoping that you feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you today and in the difficult days ahead, as this Grateful Country mourns with you, for someone very precious to you, who is a True American Hero to all of us.

Tell them of us, and say...
For their tomorrows...
We gave our today.

I am So Deeply Sorry for your Loss.

SPC. ANDREW E. LARE
You are my Hero may God keep you in his arms forever.

For the Commander, Carroll R. Michaud

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms, SPC Andrew E. Lara. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Andrew. And to Andrew it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while deployed with the U.S. Army in Iraq. No greater love and patriotism are shown than when a man lays down his life for his country. Andrew, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,307 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Andrew’s family and loved ones.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of SPC. Lara and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of freedom and liberty. Sadly, America has lost one of its finest heroes, the U.S. has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage, which they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice SPC. Lara has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends, of SPC. Lara, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to carry on. Just as you were always with him when he was deployed overseas, know that he will always be with you wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that SPC. Lara was a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

"Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid, they have earned our undying gratitude. America will never, ever forget their sacrifices."

SPC. Lara the flag of the United States of America has your blood sewn into the fabric; it shall forever wave in your honor.

Freedom requires sacrifice the protected will never know.
