Wow! What a guy. He really enjoyed getting around, sightseeing, and meeting all the wonderful people of the world. I remember his bus documentary with his son, Cris, from the mid-90's as they cruised the upper-Midwest in his SunBum coach bus, film crew on-hand. [In fact, he even mentioned my town of Rockford, IL in it when they briefly got list. *Funny moment!] No, I never did meet this very talented artist, but he'd most definitely be at the top of my list.
He reminded us we only have one life to live and to be kind to others is where it's all at. (He's right you know.) An honorable man having served the better part of a decade in the U.S. Navy during the Great WWII. Even though he's been gone all this time now now, he for surely is not forgotten. His legacy and good memory lives on in all of us fans & all those whom he'd met through the years. {Far too many movies & shows to count.}
~To the family & friends, a celebration of life of such an inspirational man named Ernest Borgnine. God speed sir! Your chariot in heaven awaits you.

I will miss him greatly. My Dad had a lot of the same characteristics as Earnest. My Dad joined in World War 2. He had the Italian blood the same smile. My Dad died June 9th 2013. I hope as I get older I can smile the way these men did. We are from Detroit and My Grandfather changed our Last name. It was Marchi. I thought your Dad was awesome.

As a student in 1975 at John Jay College in NYC I was walking with classmates and told them "I always meet someone." They laughed until I saw Mr Borgnine and yelled out "Ernest Borgnine." He stopped and shook my hand, and we talked a bit. What a gentleman from the old days of Hollywood. I will never forget his graciousness. R.I.P.

I first met him back in 1984, just before "Airwolf" was to make it's debut on national television. He was larger in life, I mean more larger in life than any living person I know!, and the kind of smile he had, wow!!.. and lets talk about his kid Chris, I can tell, Chris is exactly the same, 2 of the most beautiful human beings I have ever met in life!. I got to see Chris during the filming of On The Bus, the Sun Bum Bus that Ernie loved to drive on the road. Remember Kady Dids Chris? hehe.
I almost got to work with Ernie, but getting a hundred million dollars today to remake "Airwolf", has been a challenging task for me since the end of 2008. We were planning to do it, but finding that large of an amount had never been easy for us!. Sadly we never got it in time, and more sadly, we lost Ernie.
When that news came, it made my heart feel like someone had just shot me in it several times, over and over again!, I lost the chance to work with the greatest person in show business, on the planet!, and that dream of mine has now been shattered!.
I think what is most important here for all to realize, is that Ernie is resting in peace now!. If Ernie is laughing in Heaven beside God, like he laughed here with all of us, then I know God will send him back to us in some way!. We sure will miss you Ernie, and love you Forever.. A truly loving man was Mr. Borgnine on film, his empathy for others was reflected in how well he portrayed his characters. We believed him in part, because he gave all of himself to helping us cheer and weep for whomever he became on film and T.V.…I will truly miss that gentle giant of a man.
The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous runs and is given protection. Prov. 18:10

About twenty years ago on a flight to the west coast I spotted Mr. Borgine sitting several seats in front of me. Not wanting to disturb him I asked the flight attendant to deliver a note from me "thanking him for his outstanding and exemplary acting. After the attendant delivered the note Mr. Borgnine turned around, I gave a discreet wave of acknowledgement, and he gave me a big smile and threw me a kiss. My condolances to his family.

I remember meeting him once at the Big Boy restaurant in Traverse City, MI. I didn't know it but he was doing a movie called Barn Red a Rich Bauer Production. I told him every one has a twin and he says what one would be his, I said Ernest Bornine, he said but he is ugly, I says no he's not but then he says but then he says again but he is really ugly, I says not and again he said it and I caught on and got close up to him and said, if you think he is Ugly, then he is very very ugly, now how's that, he just laughed. He was too funny. I love his movie "Marty." Love and Miss your Character, so much. Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ

Mr. Borgnine,
Your roles in movies were superb, especially "Marty". I also greatly enjoyed your acting in "Barabbas" & "Jesus of Nazareth". You brought great sincerity & believability to the characters you portrayed making what had to be hard work look effortless on screen. You led an exemplary life & will be sorely missed. May GOD bless & protect your memory as well as the health of your family/friends remaining. Speaking for millions of fans, rest peacefully and thanks again for bringing so much joy & entertainment to the world.

My childhood hero. I loved Captain Mcale. A little over twenty years ago, I was grocery shopping with my baby daughter riding in the cart. Family and Friends,
My deepest sympathy. My favorite films of his were Demetrius and the Gladiators and Barabbas. And I did get in trouble in the 5th grade in history class at St. Bernadette Catholic School in Rockford Illinois for singing Quinton McHale the Tiger of the Pacific jingle from one of the episodes from the first season.
May he be granted eternal rest.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalm 23.
