My oldest son, a Phoenix firefighter, "grew up" w/Mr. Rogers ;-) As a little guy (2-3 yrs. old), he'd walk up to the TV screen & "talk" to "Rogee" (as he called him) -- show him something, etc. It was his very favorite childhood show.
When he heard Mr. Rogers died, my strapping 30-year-old called me from the firehouse, very sad, to ask if I'd heard the news.
He was so upset.
[I'm a native of Pgh., so Mr. Rogers definitely had a very special meaning to me.]
