To the Children and Grandchildren of Geraldine Ferraro:
Thousands of grandchildren and grandparents are grateful to the then Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro for alerting the Congress of the United States to the problem of visitation between grandparents and grandchildren. On December 19, 1982, Congresswoman Ferraro called upon me to testify before the Committee on Aging chaired by Mario Biaggi. With her sponsorship, I became a spokesperson for grandparents with Congressional appearances and many other media exposures. This recognition resulted in an opportunity for grandparents to petition for visitation rights, an opportunity heretofore obstructed. On page 65 of my recently published book*, I expressed my gratitude to Congresswoman Ferraro. This is one of her many achievements, and is the one for which I and grandparents and grandchildren throughout the country will be forever grateful.
