Dear Grant,

You have a birthday tomorrow. I wish that you were celebrating another year of life. I suspect that you would have lived a life that was honorable, productive, loving and filled with wonder. But this was not to be...and it is our loss. You would have contributed much to our world. You are remembered, as are your comrades from Lima Co, who sacrificed so much with you. May we live honorable, peaceful and gracious lives in honor of you and those who died too young.

I miss you buddy! I don't know any other person who would have done what you did for me and to be so honorable and keep it between only us. I'm getting better and everyday I think of you to inspire myself to move forward. I talk about you often and think about you daily. I know we would be friends today and probably best friends forever. One day I will travel to see where you rest. One day, when I am whole and the time is right. Til then, I will miss you and wonder what could have been. Knowing that if the world had more of you it would be a much better place.
