Jackie L. Larsen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 19, 2008.
Jackie L. Larsen loved animals, all animals, and had a particularly strong love for coffee. "It was 'guesstimated' that the coffee mug she so lovingly carried held approximately 32 oz.," said colleague Tech. Sgt. Rosalyn Anderson. Larsen, 37, of Tacoma, Wash., died of natural causes July 17 at Balad Air Base. She was assigned to Beale Air Force Base. Larsen, a paralegal and an 18-year Air Force veteran, was the 9th Reconnaissance Wing Legal Office's superintendent, based at Beale Air Force Base. As the legal office superintendent, Larsen managed the general law and military justice divisions, overseeing all aspects of enlisted training in the law center. She also was the principal adviser to the Staff Judge Advocate regarding enlisted matters. "Many people knew Tech. Sgt. Jackie Larsen as a military professional. They would say that she was dedicated, a real 'tough cookie,' and a 'no nonsense' kind of NCO," said Anderson. But she also giggled when she was in a silly mood, was protective of her family and had a love of deep sea diving, she said. She is survived by her husband, Scott.

Jackie, Words can't describe how much I miss you.. I have tried to check in on Scott..I hope you are watching over him. I came to see you last summer. I put a pretty plant on your Grave. I have a friend that is in Balad now and he found your name on a wall. I made a Scrapbook of every picture that I have with you in it.. We had some great times. You would be proud of me and the back bone I have grown!! I had someone call me princess the other day and I had to laugh becuase it made me think of you and how we always called you Princess!!! You were an amazing person and a great friend. It's funny I saw a butterfly sitting on my car the day I found out about your passing. and Now everytime Gracie and I see a butterfly..(which is daily) we say "hello princess Jackie" I know it's pretty simple and stupid but I like to think of you as carefree as a butterfly .. I love you so much and I miss you.. I will be back next summer to see you again!

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

To the family and parents of Jackie I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

Jackie,
It is hard to believe that you are gone and we will never be able to chat about our dogs (fur babies) and your endearing love of Godsmack!! Words cannot express the loss this world will suffer no longer having you in it. You will be missed terribly and I will still buy you your dolphin in Germany when I get there so I can replace the one I broke, he he he. I am so sorry that you were taken so early I hope you have the most beautiful set of wings up there in heaven. I will never forget you!!!!!
Scott,
I know that nothing I can say can take away your sorrow and mend your broken heart. I just want to say that I am so sorry and I hope that you and the rest of the family are doing okay. I just got back to Korea today and read all the emails of people trying to reach me and let me know what happened. Please let me know if there is anything I can do, I wish I could have made it to the funeral to say a last goodbye. My email is [email protected] please send me an email if there is anything I can do for you or her mom. God bless you and your family and I wish I could do something to ease your pain and suffering, I am sorry. Email me with your address, I promised her that I would replace the dolphin I broke when I was house sitting as soon as I got to Germany.

Scott,

I never met you but I had heard lots about you over the years. I was stationed with Jackie when she was still a Services Troop like me. I had kept in touch with her over the years via global email and DSN. I was soo excited that I was finally getting an assignment to the states and soo close to her, (Travis) as I would get to finally see her smiling face and cheery attitude again! I learned of this as I opened up military.com just today and it put an ill feeling in my stomache. I am truly sorry for your loss. I am sure she will be missed by everyone. She's a very wonderful human being. And she sure loved you! Stay strong!

Scott, I hope you get to read my message to you. Jackie and I were stationed together in Guam and worked together in Military Justice. I remember meeting you once when you came to see her and she surprised you with a trip to Australia. We contined to talk when you guys were stationed at Beale. I loved working with Jackie and I loved doing things with her. We certainly enjoyed our strong coffee in the morning. My heart is broken that she is gone. Keep her memory in your heart as you live day by day. I know your hurt and sadness and I'll be praying for you and your family. God Bless.

To have lost a step sister I was never able to meet in person has been the hardest thing I have ever dealt with. I am proud to have her Father as my Step-Father and even more proud to know he and Jackie served to protect my freedom. My heart and prayers go out to Scott who made her so very happy in life, and to all my extended family. Please know we will NEVER forget her and we will miss her so much. I loved hearing all about her from Mom and Dad each time we talked. Thank you Jackie for your Ultimate Sacrifice. Your Bravery and Honor will live forever in all of us.

I met Jackie while we were stationed in Ramstein. She was, as I have read, a "tough cookie" and "no-nonsense NCO". But she was also a good friend. We had went through similar things in our lives and I knew if I never needed to talk, I could call her. I am still trying to come to terms with her passing, as I'm sure her family is as well. I pray that she rests in peace and that her family finds strength in their faith at this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband, mother and all her family and friends. Jackie was loved dearly and will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Jackie was a wonderful person and this news was a huge shock to me. Words can not express the pain you must feel with the loss of a spouse. I know you are a strong person and will heal with time. I still have Jackie's phone number programmed in my cell phone from when we went to the post trial processing course together. I kept it because I knew if I ever needed help with anything she would be there for me. If you and the family need anything at all please email me. You are in my thoughts.

To The Family of Sgt. Jackie L. LarsenMy name is Annette. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to each of you.

We are not familiar with one another, We are however familiar with the pain that occurs when enemy death strikes.

When our Heavenly Father created the first man and woman death was optional.

As long as they were obedient to Him they had the choice to live forever. Only by disobeying would death occur.

From the Genesis account we read that they chose the latter. And for this reason is why we have to shed tears of sorrow. (Romans 5:12)

God's purpose for us to live forever has not changed for he promises us (1) that all those in the memorial tombs (graves) will hear his voice and come out and (2) he will wipe away the tears of sorrow from our eyes forever and death will be no more. (Revelation 21:3-5)

Although the pain you are feeling are not remove I hope that knowing that our Creator cares about us and will undo the ill-effects that we suffer will be of comfort to you.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to T.Sgt. Jackie L. Larsen our Sister in Arms. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jackie. And to Jackie it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for the devoted and selfless service she rendered to her country during Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving in the U.S Air Force. Jackie we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,409 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jackie’s family and loved ones.
