I was deeply saddened to hear of James' passing in 2006 when I was following the story very closely. I have thought of him and his family often since then and came across this site tonight while doing a google search. My heart goes out to the Kim family.

"I saw the story of the kim family and I am sad for the loss of your Husband Kati , I'am also a father and I would have done the samething I would have left my family in a safe place and set out for help also. it is so sad for James to have to died after all his efforts. Such a man of incredible honor and integrity he made ultimate sacrifice to protect his family. James Kim was a true gentleman and a hero. I admire the composure his wife Kati. had during the story I' am glad his wife continues to Share memories of James with his two daughters so they won't ever forget their Dad. May God Bless the James Kim family.

I saw the story of the kim family and I am sad for your loss, I will forever be changed because of the ultimate sacrific James Kim made for his family I think about him everyday and continue to pray that God is always with you. I wish you the best always.

I did not know James, but I wish that I had. James made the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect and save his family. If I were stranded with my family and believed that town was only 4 miles away, I would have done the same thing. My heart goes out to the Kim family. RIP James. You're bravery shall not be forgotten.

I saw the story tonight on 20/20 and thought it is so sad for James to have died after all his efforts. I admire the composure of Kati. They are (were) both very strong and commited parents and individuals, which is a treasure and example for their beautiful daughters. I also admire the efforts of all those from search and rescue teams, the results of this one in particular were so bitter-sweet. To the Kim family (parents, Kati and girls) may God give you the courage and strenght to accept the death of an extraordinary man that was part of your lives. May he live forever in your hearts!!!
