One year later my heart still aches with pain on the loss of Jimmy. Who was taken from us all too soon. No day goes by that thoughts of Jimmy do not come to mind, with overwhelming joy that I was privileged to be his friend and had the chance to know him. He was more in life than most knew. It took his death to open windows to his impact. Selflessness, generosity, caring, courage and a cheerful heart were his trademark which touched others' souls.
The proof in how many lives and people he touched was in the turn out last year at his memorial services and yesterday, on the one year anniversary, in Eatontown, NJ where a memorial was dedicated to Jimmy at a local park.
I, unfortunately could not attend. But, my thoughts were on Jimmy, as they seem to be many days.
Spans of time, distance, and responsibilities, drifted us away and apart over the years, yet now I cannot seem to go a day or so without thinking of all the great memories we shared as we were growing up together.
Jimmy was an idol, a mentor, a pal in youth, a leader. But, more importantly Jimmy was one thing to all that ever knew him....a friend.
Jimmy will always be with me I know, Because his goodness will live on and on.
Although he is no longer here in flesh, the memories everyone shared with him are in all our daily view.
I refuse to let his memory fade, his life was too much of a gift to us all. And he gave his life in an effort to better and defend our entire way of life.
So my pledge I give to Jimmy, on this the one year anniversary of his passing, I will work to make my life better because of you.
Thank You Jimbo! Rest In Peace.
