To the wife and children of the Professor: I can only imagine the example you have had for a husband and for a Dad. Anyone who would lay down their life as your husband and father did has enabled you the epitome of an example and how we ALL should be. Just as I had come to wonder if anyone truly cares, my faith has been restored. How sad I feel that I did not meet this amazing man. I have heard and read nothing but wonderful words said about the Professor. Impeccable, European manner which put most of us in US to shame, his concern for others and dedication to his students and colleagues and friends. I hope an pray that your family will be able to heal from the hideous acts and senselessness of the loss of your loved one. I am deeply sorry and will think of this man every day for the rest of my life and think about the person I need to be...the person we all should be is like the example he has shown us so clearly. I can only imagine how grateful the students but most of all the parents of the students who were allowed to flee because of the love this man had for his students. He protected them with the ultimate price. Amazing man, amazing, forever a hero in our eyes and God's too. He continued to educate to the last second of his life and far beyond.
