Paul Tibbets passing comes at a time when KEN BURN'S SERIES, "THE WAR" is fresh in the minds of many Americans after it was featured on PBS recently. With that said, the job Mr. Tibbets undertook is better understood--and takes on greater appreciation having now the benefit of what really happened to those Americans who fought against Japan and the horror our men faced every hour, minute, every day until the Japanese surrended after the Enola Gay's mission. Paul Tibbets is but a man who was called to duty to protect and serve his country; his task must be measured not by the literal activity he undertook, but, rather, compared to all men who fought that war, whether it was a cook on a battleship, a airplance mechanic on an airstrip, a soldier in a trench, or a nurse in a make-shift hospital. God bless Paul Tibbets for his service to this great nation, and God Bless America.
