I lost my cousin in this war. I'm so proud that I'm family to him and those that helped mold him. He, too, was honored posthumously.
Knowing Pam and Dave, I have observed an awe that resonates within this family that mimics to ours.
Know that there are many people that are grateful for your sacrifice, but more so for his. He was a TRUE HERO and will never be forgotten.
I'm not good with words, but God Bless You and Your family for what you have given us. I will never forget. Thank you.

Although I didn’t know him personally, when I think of his patience under adversity, of his courage under fire, and of his modesty in victory, I am filled with an emotion of admiration I cannot put into words. He belongs to history as furnishing one of the greatest examples of successful patriotism. He belongs to posterity as the instructor of future generations in the principles of liberty and freedom. He belongs to the present, to us, by his virtues and by his achievements, that invincible determination which has carved his statue into the hearts of his people. From one end of the world to the other he has drained deep from the chalice of courage and honor.

Robert,
You were the youngest on your team. Boy were they blessed to have you that day. Force-multiplier, HERO, amazing, brave young man. It would have been an honor to have met you. You saved people's lives. Yourself. I am in awe, and am sorry in a selfish way we did not get to have you in the world today ....as your presence made it better. You are a gift. Your parents are partly responsible, yet you did it yourself. You took action. So few people like you in the world. I am crying because you were taken away - even though I know it was to heaven. God bless you. I do not know from where men like you come, but you are elite and so special. May all the pain felt by those you left behind ease. You will be remembered. You made a difference. You mattered. Thank you, sir.

To the family of Staff Sgt. Robert Miller:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Memorial Day Sunday worship service at 11:00 a.m. on 25 May, 2008. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the neighboring states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.
I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain, LTC Kenneth L. Beale, Jr. will preach a message entitled “The Price of Freedom” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and place poppies at each of the crosses. An honor guard squad will be on hand to fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played.
As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (612/970-7866) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans’ name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org
Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Sat. 24 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sun. 25 May, a “PrayerVigil for Peace” will be held. You are invited to stop by and light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one’s cross in the Memorial Garden, then enter the Chapel for prayer.
If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.
Respectfully,
Leila Campbell

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

Robbie,
I never had the honor of meeting you in person but I enjoyed hearing the wonderful stories of you from my husband who served in Afghanistan with you. He told me of how intelligent you were- that you were way too smart for your job- and fluent in 5 languages. That you knew more about any gem or precious stone then any one human should. Lastly, he told me you were the best damn Black Hawk Down partner he ever had. I know he misses you greatly and I wish I could have met you myself. Thank you for serving your country with such valor and thank you to your family for supporting you in your efforts. God bless you and them.

We knew Robbie at St. Michaels's. When I saw his photo in The Trib, I recognized him, as did our son, Doug. When we moved to Cincinnati, your son,Robbie, gave a piece of his favorite t-shirt (Duke-made at Rumpleshirtskins) for a goodbye pillow made for Doug by Mrs. Rood's 5th grade class. Always giving, and he gave the ultimate sacrifice.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences in the loss of your brave son, who was willing to lay down his life to protect and defend his country. It takes a special young man to volunteer for military service--especially Special Forces--during a time of war, knowing the risks involved. He was obviously a patriot and died a hero's death.
My son was in the Oviedo NJROTC unit and friends with your son, Marty. On December 17th he left for the Marines and has been accepted into the Force Recon Training Program. Your tragedy is every parent's fear if they have a child serving in the military, but "Courage is being able to look into the unknown, and take a giant step forward." Your son did just that, paying the ultimate price. This is a testament to his bravery, character, and family who fostered these qualities in his life. Please know my son and my family will be praying for God to wrap His arms around your family and hold you close in your devastating loss.

Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Robert in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

With the deepest regret, I have just learned of the death of Staff Sergeant Miller. As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Society, Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Newcomer, III and the more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. This precious life, lived and lost in love of America, epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… the family of one of America's best ...!!!

I can't even find the words...I lost my 19 year old son--5 Sept 2007, Balad, Iraq. I am absolutely devastated and I know that you are too...but find comfort in the fact that we will see our loved ones, our heroes again. Do I wish that I could trade places with my son? ABSOLUTELY not. He is in the arms of our Lord--"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" ~Rev 21:4
What a wonderful thought...
May God bless Staff Sgt Robert Miller, God bless you and your family and God bless America!
