MEMORY ETERNAL!
January 14, 2011
October 15, 1950 I remember it well. Potvin Stadium, Moosup, Birdie Tebbits All Stars (Rizzuto, Pesky, Werth, McDermott, etc) vs Walt Dropo All Stars.
As a young kid I was brushing elbows with the best - what proud moments for me. Moosup will miss you Walt.

To The Dropo Family,

Walt was a very great man from what I heard from his old team mates. /i am sad to see him go, as many of the greats passed on before him. I guess Walt is up at bat. God Bless.

Our sincere condolences to Walt's Family, including Emily and Family and Zurka and Family. The entire Dropo Family is very special to us, filled with happy memories of times spent together in Moosup with my grandparents, Anna and Marko Gercich and my parents, Dorothy and Sam Matkovich. May you all be comforted at this time, Lilly Cascamo

I had the great pleasure to see Walt play. I was a kid of 13 years old when he broke in. I cried like a baby when the Sox traded him in that big trade with Detroit.

My uncle (also Serbian) was a scout for the White Sox in the '50's and took me to see them play several times. I'm wondering if they knew each other. Condolences to the family, with appreciation for the baseball memories and especially his service during WWII.
