Harry worked my games in the Northwest League I played for the Tri City Angels. A very good umpire then but a better MAN. I wanted more strikes but he saw it differently. Our son played in the Bigs for the Orioles. Our thoughts and prayers for the Wendelstat Family.
Hopefully this helps " Grieve for as long as it takes then remember forever."

I didn't know Harry Wendelstedt had died until today. I went to many games at Candlestick Park to watch the Giants during the 60's and 70's when he was umpiring. He was very popular with fans and was a familiar sight....his son is officiating the Giants/Padres game right now. as I type this....Rest in Peace, Harry

Hunter,Boozie, Bridget,Hailey Grace, Amy and Cheryl-we are so heartbroken about your Dad. We have such good memories of going to Houston's with him and spending family time. He cherished each of you.He always remebered us during the Holidays and we will continue to remember him. My only hope is that he is with our precious Blake catching up on what has been going on here. If we could only see where they have gone...they wake in peace and know no fear...just joy beyond compare! We love you all! Kathryn and Bailey Berrigan

I'm so sorry to hear about Harry's passing. What a great guy. While I was at TBS in 1988, he allowed me to not only do a story on the school, but strap on the gear and try it myself. He was so gracious and accommodating. A class act who will be deeply missed.
