Alphonse P. DeVivo

KENSINGTON - Alphonse "Phonsie" P. DeVivo, 92, formerly of Kensington, died Friday morning at Newington Health Care Center. Born in New Britain, son of the late Louis and the late Annie (Caccavale) DeVivo, he graduated from Berlin High School, Class of 1940, and operated DeVivo Farms for 50 years, producing milk and eggs from the livestock and growing a variety of vegetable and floral plants. For 35 years he worked for DATTCO, Inc. driving a school bus for the Berlin Public Schools. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Berlin Moose Lodge, and he enjoyed his spare time listening to music, playing his harmonica, and playing in setback tournaments. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Irene DeVivo of Kensington, a sister-in-law, Patricia DeVivo of Kensington, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward P. DeVivo in 2003. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 9:30am from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at 10am at St. Paul's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:30-9:30am.
