Domenic N. Gioello of West Hartford, beloved husband and best friend of Lucille Marques Gioello, departed this life unexpectedly on March 12, 2014 while on vacation in Flordia, a time he truly looked forward to and enjoyed so much each year. Domenic was predeceased by his parents Gennaro and Virginia Gioello, his son Thomas and daughter Debra. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Donna Gioello (Peter Cuiola) of Yonkers, NY, his son Patric Sjolund (Marie) of Sweden, his brother Nicholas Gioello (Diane) of Cornville, AZ, sisters Dorothy Chmella, Amelia Mastrogiacomo (Joey) of Southington, CT, Anna Gioello (Ruth) of Escondido, CA, and several nieces and nephews as well as many friends both in this area and at the Golden Strand in Sunny Isles Beach, FL. Domenic was born in the Bronx, NY and attended schools there. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1946 and reitred from the US Postal Service in 1970. After spending time in Sweden while his son was growing up, he worked for and retired from the Hartford Insurance Company in 1991. Dom and Lucille celebrated their 25th anniversary last June, appreciating every precious moment of their time together. Dom relished being and home with his wife and his passions were big band music, dancing, tinkering in his workshop, spending time in the kitchen producing his famous biscotti and more, nurturing his garden and enjoying trips to the casino/coffee with his close friends John Pro and Joe Kowalczyk. a "Mr. Fix-It", he was innovative and always willing to lend a helpding hand. Dom will truly be missed by all who shared his outlooks, humor and special friendships. There will be no calling hours per Dom's request. Burial will be private in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury, CT on April 5th. Arrangements are being handled by the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street, Danbury. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark's Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford, at 10 am on Saturday, May 3rd. Donations in Domenic's memory may be made to the ER Dept. Cleveland Clinic, Weston, FL 33331, attn. Dr. Jonathan Watson or to CT Special Olympics, attn. Track & Field Programs, 2666 State St, Suite 1, Hamden, CT 06517 in honor of his Special Olympian daughter Debra Gioello
