HOLLIS, Florence
Florence A. Hollis, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday (October 31, 2011). Born in Norwich, CT, on July 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Thoma) Emerson. She was the wife of the late Robert Hollis, Jr. She was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy and Bryant College. She was a very active member of First Congregational Church of East Hartford. She served as a Deaconess and a member of the Ladies Guild for many years along with other church activities. Florence was an avid reader, loved the beach, gardening, and making jams and jelly. She is survived by two sons, Robert Hollis III and his wife, Brenda of Stonington, Thomas Hollis of Columbia, CT; three grandchildren, Amy Hollis of Manchester, Gabrielle Hollis of Worcester, MA, and Matthew Hollis and his fiancee, Amie Nolan of Crantson, RI; three nieces and several cousins. Beside her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Liepold and her husband, Ralph "Chubby" Liepold, and her nephew, Gil Leipold.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, (November 5, 2011) at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT. Burial will follow inside Rose Hill Memorial Park. There will be one calling hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church Kitchen Fund, 837 Main St., East Hartford, CT 06118

Flo was a dear friend whom I shall miss very much. As members of our Sunday lunch bunch we shared laughter and our deep concerns over the past years. My sympathy goes out to her family.
