How very sad I was to learn of Steve's passing only yesterday here in far-off Singapore! I remember him warmly as a fantastic pastor, a warm and compassionate human being, and always fascinating interlocutor on a whole host of issues. I first met him 35 years ago when I was back in the US and was briefly on the staff of Christ Church Cathedral, Hartford. I was blessed to have seen him twice in recent years, once in 2006 and again in 2007 when he and Mary were out here in Singapore. Steve was still as kind and engaging and scintillating as ever. We will always miss you, old friend, and will carry you in our hearts always.
What an inspiration! Our love and sympathy to the entire family.
A special classmate at the Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge MA and a clerical college in the Diocese of Connecticut. It has been a great gift knowing you Steve.
What an amazing and special man. My condolences to all of his family.
We go back along time. Episcopal Theological Seminary and Church of the Advent, Boston. Rest in Peace Steve. You will be greatly missed.
rest in eternal peace. You married my husband and I in Christ Church Cathedral almost 34 years ago. Loved your sense of humor as well as your common sense.
I was honored to know Steve at The Palm Beach Post. He was both wise AND smart, and also kind and compassionate. He will be missed.
Heartfelt and prayer-filled sympathy to you, Mary, and to all of Steve's extended family. I have to be careful with my choice of words lest Steve offer edits--from above. Yes, from above as I'm sure that no one, not even Christ, could likely articulate an idea more succinctly, more lovingly, more inspiringly than Steve. Powerful words, mirrored by a life of equally powerful deeds. I was privileged to know Steve closely for a few years. I had that same privilege of knowing you, Mary, through all of that time. Please accept my prayers, my sympathy, my blessings and my love. Undoubtedly you were Steve's perfect spouse--for years. May he rest in Christ's Peace, and Rise in His Glory. And may you find huge amounts of consolation from the love that many people have for you, I among them. Fr John Rick
