VOLZ, Ethel Kimmey
Ethel K. Volz, 94, died peacefully on March 15, 2013. Born in Smithtown, NY on July 14, 1918, she was the daughter of Edith (Petit) Kimmey and Irving Kimmey. Ethel had two brothers, Nelson W. Kimmey and Howard F. Kimmey, both who predeceased her. She was married to Lawrence A. Volz in Smithtown, NY. They later moved to Newington, NH and owned the River Bend Motel for a number of years. Her husband, Lawrence, died in 1971. Ethel was active in The Order of the Eastern Star, the Newington Women's Auxiliary, and the Newington Congregational Church, where she played the organ. She had a love for music and celebrated that passion throughout her life. In her retirement, Ethel moved to Sebring, FL where she enjoyed the warm weather, friends, music, and a good game of bridge at the community center at Whisper Lake. Ethel is survived by her daughter, Laurie Volz Lynch of Rollinsford, NH and her son, Lawrence H. Volz and his wife, Lillia M. Volz of Bolton. Ethel was blessed with five grandchildren: Julia K. Lynch, Katharine T. Lynch, Saxton M. Lynch, Megan M. Albano and her husband, Christopher Albano, Amy J. Masse and her husband, Ryan Masse. She also had three beautiful great-grandchildren: TessaLynn Lynch, Mason Albano, and Bennett Albano. She will be dearly missed by all of her family as well as her many nieces and nephews.
A private service at Watkins Funeral Home, Manchester, CT will be held on Monday afternoon, March 18. Ethel will be laid to rest next to her husband, Lawrence A. Volz, at the Newington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 in her memory. Laurie, so sorry for the loss of your mom. We had a lot of good memories at the motel back in the day. Hang on to those memories and feel good about being able to spend good quality time with her, especially up to the end when you needed each other. Stay strong, she IS around you.
