Dr. Simons was THE MAN for the time...he was there when young Black, & Latino students were given the opportunities to matriculate in higher education and his presence & guidance insured that many of us succeeded and were protected from the forces that didn't want there. There was never a time that I needed his help that it was not there...when we protested the injustices of higher education, he was there with us. He was our surrogate Dad! Our parent away from our parents...and many of us loved him, respected him, and honor him for all that he did for us. "Doc", as we affectionately called you. Thank you...and do know that your spirit and inspiration lives on in all of us whom you touched, helped, motivated...our success is in part, because of you... God Bless you and may your Rest in Peace.
