Helen (Borkowski) Prytko, 76, a longtime Newington resident, loving wife of Edward C. Prytko for 54 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Born in New Britain on May 21, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Helen (Zeleski) Borkowski. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Newington Senior Center where she loved to paint. She retired from the Hartford Regional Center as a Registered Nurse after 12 years of employment and enjoyed traveling with Ed while he was in the Army. Helen is survived by her son Philip Prytko and his wife Kathryn of New Britain, her daughters Annette Dionizio and her friend Christopher Ciccio of Southington, and Bernadette Prytko of Newington; her sister Leona Jurkiewicz and her husband Thad of Long Island, NY; in-laws: John and Anne Prytko of Manchester, Walter and Laurie Prytko of Ellington, Georgianne Prytko of Berlin and Stanley Bloniarz of Rockville along with many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Jeanette Bloniarz. Helen's funeral service will begin on Saturday, March 1st at 11:45 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain, immediately following the Mass. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, Feb. 28th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home.
