Dear family of John Danielewicz,
We just learned of the death of your dear John. He was very dear to us and we are so sad to hear this news. We are so sorry we could not be there for you as we just found out. John was such a gentle and wonderful man and we loved him very much. He was a great ambassador for his participation in WWII aboard the USS Essex and we loved talking to him about his experiences. He will be missed by us very much. We knew him from our volunteer efforts with the Iwo Jima Survivors and had just written a story about him to appear in this current Journal. We hope he was able to see it before he passed. He was always so proud of those things. You couldn't help but love him and want to hug him. He will be missed by all of us.

It was my pleasure to serve on the school board of Holy Cross School with John. He was so gracious and always had a smile on his face. He spoke with me about his military service; something he was very proud of. My condolences to all of you.

Please know that our prayers are with your family at this time. What a hero your father was, and will be in heaven...
