It is with the utmost sadness that I learned of the death of my dearest Professor at UCONN, where I studied from 1979 to 1987, getting my MSEE.
Professor Melehy was a simple genius, reflecting the air of intellectual profoundness together with the modesty of a normal man. Wholly dedicated to his profession, he LOVED teaching, and he LOVED making extremely difficult concepts very simple to his students. He often thanked God for letting him discover new things. I know that the Creator will have a special place for him, and when His time will come, we shall see him again.
Forever grateful to him for his manner of teaching the integrity of pure science.
Fabio G. Baratto, MSEE.

It is with a sad heart that I learn of Dr. Melehy's passing. I was a graduate student at the University of Connecticut from 1961 to 1963, and Dr Melehy was my advisor. His gracious manner, his gentlemanly attitude and unique teaching skills left an indelible mark on my life. He was, and still is, an influential factor in both my professional and personal life. I was privileged to be invited to his 80th birthday party at Storrs; after all these years, we remained friends. We have lost a great educator and he will surely be missed.

My deepest condolences to the Melehy family.

I have fond memories of picnics with Mahmoud and the rest of the Melehy family during the 1960s and early 1970s. My mother Adma, my sister Sarah and I send our condolences to the family. May Mahmoud rest in peace.
