To the Family:

I want to take a moment to offer my condolences to the family of Dr. Herman and offer a fond memory.

I was told by my dentist at the young age of 16 that my molar tooth could not be saved, that he would have to extract it, and I would have to have a partial plate!

I was told by my orthodontist when my filling fell out of the tooth that anchored my braces to wait to have it repaired until my braces out come off in a month or so. I had been traveling to Springfield, MA, every month for a couple of years, alone, by train because an economical orthodontist had his practice there and finances were a consideration for my family. I was so disturbed to know when I finally did get to the dentist, waiting until my braces came off that after all the work had been done and the traveling that I had endured, that I would now have to have to lose a tooth! Upon asking my dentist if there was anything else I could do, he recommended Dr. Herman for a new procedure called a root canal. Apparently, Dr. Herman was a pioneer in the field. I was frightened to go but was determined to save my tooth. I was put at ease by his nurse and Dr. Herman who relieved my fears for a period of three visits. The hardest part of this procedure was the pain involved, without anesthesia, for I had to feel pain so he would know he was at the root of the tooth to put in a titanium rod at the time. I still have my tooth to this day because of him and was forever grateful for his expertise. I never forgot him, his kind nurse, and the office on Trumbull Street in Hartford through all these years!

Some people mean more and Dr. Herman was one of those special people!
