Ralph L. Snyder Jr., 70 of Manchester, beloved husband of Erna (Ness) Snyder passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Ralph was born in Hartford, November 12, 1943, son of the late Ralph L. Sr. and Jenny (Dimauro) Snyder and resided in Manchester since 1993. Ralph served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired as a LPN, having worked at Walker Memorial Hospital in Avon Park, FL, Rocky Hill Veterans Home and Hospital, the Mansfield Training School until its closing and Lake Grove in Durham, CT. Ralph was an avid card player and a great poker player. In addition to his wife, Erna, he is survived by a son, Jonathan R. Snyder and his wife, Arlyd of New Britain, two sisters, Doreen Progulske of Westfield, MA and Cindy King and her husband, Tony of Avon Park, FL, several nieces and nephews, a great-grandniece and a great-grandnephew. Funeral services will be Friday, March 14 at 10 am at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester. Burial will follow with military honors in Hillstown Rd. Veteran Cemetery Manchester. Family and friends may call Thursday, March 13 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project 4899 Belfort Rd. Suite 300 Jacksonville, FL 32256. Alan and I would like to express our condolences to Ralph's family. As a young girl, I enjoyed the numerous times he visited our family. I have many fond memories of my cousin. I pray that he will rest in peace and that his family will be comforted during this difficult time.
