Brother Austin Davis, Sr., 74 began his Christian journey on May 31, 1939 in Bogalusa, LA. He was the son of William and Jimmie Lee Davis. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Old New Welcome Baptist Church. He then moved to New Orleans, LA in the late 1950's and continued his Christian journey as a member of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fred Luther until Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. He later reunited with New Welcome Baptist Church in Poplarville, MS, Whitesand Community, where he actively sang in the male chorus.

Brother Austin Davis worked a number of jobs before retiring manely as a Doorman at the Royal Orleans Hotel and later as an owner and operator of White Fleet and New Breed Cab Services.

Austin united in marriage to the love of his life Antoinette G. Davis and to this union three children were born. Austin was a loving and devoted husband and father.

On March 8, 2014, Austin completed his earthly journey and went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jimmie Lee Davis and grandparents.

Austin leaves to cherish his legacy of Christian faith and family values, a loving and devoted wife, Antoinette; four children, Austin, Jr. (Jennifer), Anthony (Qwen), Antoine, Sr. (Lisa) Davis and Terri Ann (Joe); four sisters, Wileana, Claudean (Frank), Jerry Fay, and Wanda (Brad); one brother, Jimmy Ray (Sara) Davis; two sister in laws, Emma (Raymond) McCoy and Rose (Henry) Butler; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two God-daughters, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in New Welcome Baptist Church, Whitesand Community, 12 Whitesand Road, Poplarville, MS 39470. Rev. M.J. Galloway will officiate at the service. Visitation will be Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Dave Mondy Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown's Funeral Home of Picayune, MS.
