I thank God for allowing me to get to know Gene as a Christian. He made a lifetime impression in our brief two year relationship by his servant walk. I will treasure that forever. Linda, may God give you the strength you need to make it through the days ahead.....To God be the Glory
I've known Gene for the last 14 years thru Rotary. Gene possessed the rare combination of compassion, humility,humor and tolerance of others. He taught many of us that were never in his classrooms. He now has his reward.
Dr. Wiggins made all who came in contact with him feel special. I was very fortunate to be one of his students and to call him friend. He was a wonderful person and great mentor. If greatness is measured by the number of lives you touch in a positive way, then he truly was a great man. Heaven has a wonderful addition in Dr. Wiggins.

Gene Wiggins is a USM institution. A splendid teacher and friend, he means so much to so many. There are journalists all over the U.S. who owe Gene Wiggins, and I am certainly one. We go so far back ... to when I first started writing stories for the Hattiesburg American at 13 and he was the assistant sports editor there. He made it fun to go to work. Later, he made it fun to go to class. He dispensed wit and wisdom in equal doses. And he artfully used that inimitable Wiggins wit to dispense that wisdom.
