I first met Darby in the 1960's when I was transferred with Telstra as a Technician. From that time on we became great mates and shared time and experiences as well as those with our families for many years. In the late eightees I moved to Albury and Darby joined Corrections so we rarely saw each other but constant memories were always in my heart of the things we used to get up to as young larrikins.
Although we did not see each other much in later years i will always remember the times we shared together.

When Darby was General Manager, MRRC I used to liaise with him about staff training. He was professional, approachable and supportive and always had a funny story to tell.

I moved on from Corrections and heard Darby had retired.

Moving on 8 years in 2018 I was at the Downing Centre for work and I couldn't believe my eyes there was Darby doing casual prison escort work. I had so many questions to ask him . where everyone was now what they were doing I thought I would be thrown out of court for talking ....

Darby Dewson made the workplace a better place to be.

My kindest thoughts to his family and many friends during this sad time Christine Lloyd

I had the pleasure of working with Darby following his 'transition' from the Custodial arm of Corrective Services into Community Corrections, as a Director. Given Darby had no prior exposure to the community-based operations of the Organisation, he adapted well. He had a very practical approach to getting the job done, and never took himself too seriously. I also had the honour of working with him as a fellow Director, and was proud to be present when his distinguished contributions were acknowledged by the then Commissioner, Ron Woodham, in late 2012, as a recipient of the Commissioner's 'Exemplary Conduct Cross', for Professionalism and Leadership.
An absolute champion human being - and will be missed by many. Rest in Peace my friend.
