Tia and family - I am deeply saddened by George's passing. What a wonderful, loving father, husband, medical doctor and kind and generous person. You both made me feel like family when I lived in Key Biscayne. I learned today of his passing and am devastated by the news. May his memory be eternal and may the 41 years you were together serve as a testament to the love you shared. My heartfelt prayers are with all of you at this time.
Hope Callas File and family.

My husband and I were deeply saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of Dr. George Mekras. My husband knew him through his family and the Greek Church and I knew him as an outstanding physician. Our deepest and most sincere condolences to the entire Mekras family.

I just recently heard from a high school friend of the passing of George. I am saddened by the news and remember fondly all the memories growing up in the St.Sophia community with George.......Greek School, Sunday School, and GOYA. My husband and I wish George eternal rest and send our deepest sympathy to all the Mekras family

The loss of my dear friend George was heartbreaking. We shared many years together on Biltmore Way, enriched by him. George was somewhat of a fashion plate in our building. I loved to see his smile when kidded about his snappy and dapper dress, especially the plaid suits. He had a terrific smile. But most of all, I remember his love of his family, his concern for his patients and his desire to lead a life with passion and purpose. I miss him deeply.

I was deeply saddened to see the passing of Dr. Mekras. This gifted and caring surgeon saved our sons kidney at 14 weeks of age. Today that young man is completing his first year of law school. Our hearts go out to his family and we will be eternally grateful for the gift he gave our son. May he rest in peace.

Tia: Unfortunately ,one never realizes what an impact a person has on ones life until it is too late. Although I never shared this with anyone , George made a great impact on my life as a brother in law and was admired by me for all his accomplishments in life not limited to his medical profession , philanthropy but also his dedication to family and church always "under the radar screen" the modest person that he was. As I move around Miami on a daily basis my thoughts turn continually to George and some of the life experiences we enjoyed together such as winning the MM golf tournament together (twice) at Riviera I close my eyes and see George's million dollar smile as we were presented with our trophy "priceless" Tia both you and George will always be a part of my ( our) lives and we must now continue to maintain our family closeness as our In laws and George would have wanted us to. May his soul rest in piece. Love to my Nephews and their family's my brother in law Johnny Mekras M D and family and most of all to Evan, loving sister to George who loves her brothers dearly and as all of us is truly suffering this great loss to our family and to society.

Dear Tia, I was totally shocked when I saw his obit in the Stuart News. I have fond memories when working with him, as well as Fitz and Lon, from 1983-1988. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
