So sorry to hear of Gary's passing. I have read his obituary that his cousin Linda Martin sent me. He is someone to be very proud of.

I ran into him in Cooper City last year and despite not having seen each other in a while .. he remembered me and we shared some memories and laughs of the times at the FIU gym .. my prayers go out to his family and may God bless his soul ... rest in peace my friend .
My sympathies to the family in your loss. May you find comfort and hope in God's promise at John5:28

God has blessed us by allowing us to have Gary in our lives. I will truly miss him.
My love and prayers are with you. I love you all so very much. And remember I am here if you need me.
Nearly 30 years ago, I had the honor and pleasure of becoming part of Gary's family. From that day on I watched him work his way up the ladder to become the most respected and honored man I've ever known. At work and in his personal life "he gave it all".
This quote describes my loving brother to a "T"
"I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore I can do, or any kindness I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect, for I shall not pass this way again."
Thank you Gary for all you left everyone that you touched. You will be missed and loved as long as time and words exist! Gary, I love and miss you.
And to my wonderful sister-in-law, Karen, and to Scott, Nikki, Alexis & Tina, my heart goes out to you and I will always be here for you as long as I walk this earth. With love Uncle Ron
With deepest sympathy and prays to the Shimminger family. God has a path for Gary; made he bless all with love and devotion through his name. Amen
Karen and family, Please accept our deepest sympathy. It always made me smile to see Gary running as I drove back and forth out of our neighborhood. He truly made a friend in Ciro, Ciro referred to him as his "best friend Gary" and wanted to go see if Gary wanted to play.He has very fond and vivid memories of Gary and I am very grateful for the time he spent making Ciro feel so special. Gary was a truly Good Man and he will be missed by everyone that ever met him. ~ Bobby, Dawn, Brittani & Ciro DeLand
I have known all of the Shimminger Family since the late 1970's. I have such fond memories of each family member. Mark & Billie please except my greatest sympathies.
To my Fly-guy... I am so lost and broken hearted. I am living my biggest fear, that something would happen to you and we would not be able to grow old together. I would watch you sleep and cry, never imagining the real pain and loss. Your were my best friend, my everything. If anyone could write their last chapter of life, it could never measure up to yours. I know you are watching over all of us and we tried to make you so proud of us... the kids were awesome. So strong for me. oh, my honey bunny.. what am I going to do without you.. I miss you so much. I am going to the Homeless Voice today to see what I can do for them in your honor.. I know you would want me to, also I stopped by Denny's to talk to the waitress that served us on Friday. You touched so many lives, it is incredible the love and support we are receiving from them... the love of my life, my Fly-guy.
To my dear friend Karen....Scott,Nicole.,Alexis and Christina. May you find the comfort you need with the maker of peace our Lord Jesus Christ we love you all. Doug,Jennifer McMillan
I met The Shimminger family through cheerleading. Gary was the ultimate cheer dad to all 3 of his talented daughters. Gary was always there for the girls, the team and the program. I had alot of respect for him in how he displayed his love and admiration for his wife and kids...Truly a great man.
Gary and I met when I was a freshman at FSU and he was visiting campus. Somehow, we ended up in an arm wrestling match and, of course, he beat me. We became instant friends and ended up as roommates our junior and senior years. We pledged SAE together as juniors. He was my closest friend and there isn't enough space here to describe the great times we had in college and in the years beyond. It's no surprise to me Gary did great things with his life - as a husband, father and law enforcement officer. He always had the drive, the passion and the highest sense of personal integrity. He was just a good guy. Gary, I celebrate your life. You will always be my friend and my brother. Phi Alpha. Go Noles!
I haven't seen you since I was a little girl but I always looked up to you. My mom was hit hard by your passing as you two spent a lot of time together as children. She told me stories of how you used to love brushing her hair because it was so soft. You were the greatest cousin she could have asked for and you're a wonderful man. We will miss you. May God bless you with all the spoils you deserve. Love your Hagerstown family
My hero and guiding light. I love you and miss you so much. I'll take care of it from here, you taught me well.

"In your precious Memory Gary"
Light a candle for those we mourn.
Into a new life they will be born.
Do not look for them at the gravesite.
They are somewhere else radiating their beautiful light.
They have gone to a new world where there is no darkness, no pain.
Their light and essence will always remain.
Light a candle for those who have left this mortal place.
They are free to travel through time and space.
When we think of them, they are near.
When we sit in a beautiful garden.
Their voices we hear.
When we listen to a divine symphony, We close our eyes, their faces we see.
Light a candle for they have not really gone.
With each flickering flame, in your hearts they will always belong
I will Forever remember you for your generosity, smile, but most of all your truthful HEART <3 NO ONE LIKE YOU GARY, with Love, until we meet
