I somehow missed the news of Jim's passing. Like so many of us that started our academic careers at MDC Jim hired me in 1968 as he was about to take a sabbatical. He was an inspiration to me over the years as we shared some major medical issues. I remember golfing with Jim and his son one day and day was very long as Jim must have found every last golf ball that every other golfer had lost. He even climbed a fence for one. We laughed a lot.

I miss you so very much. I need your advice, I need your voice of experience. I try to think about what you'd say but I have nowhere near the amount of knowledge that you did - so I always fall short. I love you Dad. For everything.

XOXO

Your huggiebagoogoo.

Mr. Kilbride was my teacher 1960-1961 at SMJH. There was something very special about taking his class during a presidential election year. He was an excellent teacher and a kind and gentle human being. Now I "pay it forward" by (volunteer)teaching citizenship classes to immigrants. Alicia Quinn aliciabquinn@gmail.com

Many thanks to all who have shared their fond memories of my father. It is coming up on a year since I last saw him and hugged him, so I've been pouring over these entries enjoying the warmth and love in your words. I'm so proud of him for touching so many lives in such a positive way. I really hope he knew the impact he had on so many of us!!

I just sent an email last week and realizing just now that you had not answered, I was so sad to find this obituary. You were my 9th grade Civics teacher at South Miami Jr. High and opened up the world of politics and the electoral process for me. As an adult, it was my joy to be in touch with you and share memories of that time past and how much you meant to me as a teacher. My deepest sympathy to your family, and to all who knew you and feel this tremendous loss.
Rest in peace dear and treasured teacher,

Carol Levine Cirigliano

I just received this sad news of Jim's passing for the first time today from Lois Willoughby. I too, like Dennis and Roberto, had the very good fortune of being hired by him. I remember him fondly for his intelligence, sincerity and kindness....and for his always friendly smile.

Dear Dr Kilbride on the other side,
Few days go by in my life when I do not think of you. You were my South Miami Junior High Civics teacher. I still have the notebook I wrote regarding the three careers I might be most interested in, based on the surveys you gave us. I thought you were such a fantastic teacher. When I worked at Miami-Dade Community College, I tried to reach you. I wish I had tried harder. I am reading a book now about engaging teachers, and one of the author's questions was: Who influenced your life as a teacher. You did. Always. Have fun and be a peace on the other side. With much love, Maxine Kamin

I never got to say goodbye. You were a good man like my father your brother Larry. I miss him so much. I hate death it hurts so much. Both men did so much for others. My dad suffered to send all five kids to college, but it was worth it to him. I know uncle Jamie was the same way. I will feel that emptiness again with your passing

Many thanks to everyone who has taken the time to offer condolences and share memories here. I encourage anyone reading this who knew our Dad to please share remembrances. The kind, thoughtful words help us with our grief.
