I received the news of Dr Bouceks passing today. Our son Brandon was diagnosed with HLHS in 2003. He was transplanted at the ripe age of 11 weeks.
Thanks to Dr. Boucek and his team we know the sound of our son's laugh, how great his hugs are, and how infectious his smile is.
We are so blessed to have Dr. Boucek touch our lives like he has so many others. He will be greatly missed.
sincerely,
The Blakeley Family

I am so terribly saddened to hear of Dr. Bouceks passing. My son Kaleb was diagnosed with hypo-plastic left heart by Dr. Boucek in 1994 and was transplanted at the age of 3 months. Dr. Boucek was my security through it all! His compassion and tenderness was so obvious when I walked in Kalebs hospital room and caught Dr. Boucek changing his diaper..He was wet he replied. He was One of a kind and will be greatly missed!

God Bless,
The Kurtz Family

Be comforted in knowing that God is with you during this difficult time and that there are friends that also share your sorrow with you. I find Psalm 121 to be very comforting during these times.

Sincerely,
Kiarna M.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Boucek in SLC. He was so intelligent and always so pleasant to the staff and the family members of the infants we were treating. He was my idea of what a physician should be.

Dear Boucek Family, I worked for Mark as his Data Coordinator in 1995. He was the most charismatic, brilliant and charming person that I have ever met. The "transplant families" loved him and trusted him completely. I am so very sad to hear of his passing. It just doesn't make sense. I feel honored to have known him. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray for all of you.
Sincerely,
Patti Macbeth

The Whitley Family sends their loving thoughts and prayers to Dr. Boucek's family. After reading the guest book all of our thoughts about what a wonderful person Mark was have been confirmed over and over. We were so fortunate to have our daughter Cailtin who was born in 1997 be one of Dr. Boucek's hypoplastic/heart transplant patients at The Children's Hospital in Denver. He ALWAYS put the kids first, before anything else. He gave us 4 months with our daughter (mostly at home) that we will always treasure and never be able to thank him enough for. He understood the importance of having the child and the family together. His innovative and progressive ideas as well as his true love for helping these children is what I remember most. He had such a calming effect on my husband and I everytime he would come in and see Caitlin. I also so appreciated his support after Caitlin passed away. Especially his support of the From the Heart Golf Tournament that we would hold in Caitlin's honor. He touched so many lives and was truly a man for others. I hope in some way seeing how Mark touched so many lives brings comfort to you during this time of sorrow. You remanin in our prayers.
Blessings

My deepest sympathies to all the Boucek family. I am proud and honored to have worked Mark during his time in Salt Lake City. He taught me many things about cardiology and caring for children and families. He will be greatly missed by all whose paths he crossed world wide. My fond memories of Mark make me smile today....Sincerely, Jane Sturtevant Cope

Dr. Boucek was my son's doctor at The Children's Hospital, Denver. I am deeply saddend to hear of his passing. He was a great comfort to me when Jacob received his heart transplant at 6 months of age. Jacob is now 10. Dr. Boucek was a very caring man, who seemed to have all the time necessary to answer family questions. His actions have had a profound affect on people and their perspectives of life, and the great gift that it is. He has touched so many in an extremely positive, uplifting way. I will miss him dearly. May God hold him and give him everlasting care. Again, my prayers are with Dr. Boucek and his family.

Although I have only spoken to Dr. Boucek on the phone, I have the pleasure of teaching his daughter at the medical school. She is both intelligent and compassionate and well on her way to becomming a wonderful pediatrician (I hope!) Such a daughter MUST be a reflection of the father and I hope Mark knew what a good job he did in raising her.
