I first met Birdie on June 30, 1975 in Wharton, Tx. He and I became best friends for many years. This man would help you any way he could. No matter what, we could always make each other laugh. After a while, we lost each others number. By the grace of God's ways, we were in touch again. We had worked together, went on trips, etc. I last talked to him the first part of October. I have been trying to get in touch with him and found out today that he went home to God's home. I will miss you buddy and look forward to seeing you when I'm called home. Love you Buddy and hope your family is doing fine.

Birdie was the kindest, sweetest, gentlest soul I have ever known. I was blessed to have known him and will never forget him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Birdie was a person who comes along once in a lifetime. I can't compare him to any other person I have ever met. If I had only one word to describe him it is Joyful. I have waited this long to write because I couldn't find any words to communicate effectively how much I loved him and his Mother and brother Gary, and I still feel I've come up short. Birdie every one of those blessed enough to know you have been impacted by you. Gods blessings to all of your family and friends

I remember Birdie from the J.C.'s summer program that was held at the Jr. High in Wharton. We all just loved Birdie and had so much fun when he was there. He was a good role model for us. He sprained his ankle while playing basketball with the us kids and had to be out for a while and we all missed him a lot and could not wait for him to come back.

I feel blessed to have had to opportunity to have met him, even if it was just for that summer. Those are good memories.
