BURLESON - Harold Lloyd Brinkley, 90, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at his home in Burleson, Texas.
Harold L. Brinkley was born Dec. 2, 1922 in Denison, son of Daniel and Ether (Zuner) Brinkley. Mr. Brinkley married the love of his life, Mildred McEver, on June 26, 1942 in Denison, Texas and remained happily married for 70 years until his passing. He served our country through his service in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Brinkley received a Purple Heart after his plane was shot down behind enemy lines and he was held as a prisoner of war for eleven months and two days. Mr. Brinkley was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Denison for more than 50 years until he and his wife moved to Burleson, Texas in 2000 to be with their daughter. He has also been a member of Cana Baptist Church since his move to Burleson.
Mr. Brinkley is survived by his family, loving wife of 70 years, Mildred Brinkley, daughter, Linda and husband Jerry Rench of Burleson, Texas, grandson, Shawn Patrick Burke, three granddaughters, Lynnetta Lynn Burke, Christine Garner and Holly Ferencevich, and eight great-grandchildren, Brittney and Ian Burke, Korey, Khloe, Madilyn and Landon Savino and Eric and Nicole Ferencevich. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clyde Brinkley and sister, Ruth Thornhill.
Funeral services for Mr. Brinkley will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Cana Baptist Church in Burleson, Texas with Pastor Charles Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery Chapel in Denison at 3 p.m.
