I'm kind of late to express my sadness about my love for Solveig. It seemed that Solveig, Karin,Clara and Lars would always be there. Before Bob Dylan there were the Ventures and Jack Scott. KRKO was always on the radio.

Solvieg, I still can't believe you aren't with us anymore, I feel like it was just yesterday that our families reconnected and it was just like old times again, except without our beloved Mary. Now you are with her. It has nearly been a year since we last saw each other, when we stayed over because of Nattie's surgery. It was a tough time that was made easier from you and John's friendship. You always put others before yourselves. Thank you for driving us all the way back to Bellingham after our car broke down that one time. Thank you for taking us to McDonald's and the beach and other fun places when we were kids, and for not getting mad at us when we almost ruined one of your paintings. I can not finish writing this without tears, and there is so much I want to say and so many memories that are flooding back to me, from my childhood and from the past 2 years. Your spirit will always be with us as long as we keep your memory in our hearts. I will never forget you.

It was my honor to have known Solveig. My son was in her class for three years at Dutch Hill. Even after my son had left Dutch Hill he continued to visit her and take her Christmas cookies every year.
She told me when she came back from Alaska and had been looking for teaching jobs, she had decided that she would only take a position if on her commute she was able to see grazing cows. She not only found a school with cows on the commute all she had to do was look out her classroom window and there were cows right there. This made her immensely happy.
She shared her love of Alaska with my son. His dream is to be in the Coast Guard and be stationed in Alaska. This is all due to the respectful, caring, and nurturing environment of Ms. Vinje's classroom. Once students were in her class, they were “her kids”. She will be greatly missed as a teacher and friend.

"In education it isn't how much you have committed to memory or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't. It's knowing where to go to find out what you need to know and it's knowing how to use the information you get." --William Feather
That is the life lesson Solveig's taught my son Garrett if it was not for this amazing woman being at Dutchhill leading him in the next step of learning growing and becoming the 16 year old young man he is today that does well at Snohomish high she had faith and when he would finish any big task he would say wow... Ms. Vinje would be happy with every College letter for sports for Garrett i sometimes close my eyes say thank you Ms. Vinje she always told my son you can do any thing nothing is impossible. You will always hold a very special spot in my heart. I know i told you a million times but thank you.<3
