Together...We Will Not Forget...My name is Debbie Elam and I am the Chairman of the Virginia Memorial Quilt Project. Our group is making and presenting a numbered memorial quilt to the immediate family of each fallen hero since the 1983 attack on the Marine Barracks in Lebanon in and the Global War on Terror with ties to the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Hero may have been born, gone to school, lived in Virginia at sometime during their life or even trained for his military service in Virginia. My husband and I rode in the 2014 Freedom Run yesterday. The ride is to the Middle East Conflict Memorial wall in Marseilles, IL.

When you sign up, you are given a dog tag with the name of one of our fallen US heroes. The tag I was given was that of SSG Lawson. I also made an etching of his name from the wall. SSG Lawson's name was one of the names read yesterday, one of 140 names added to the wall in the past year. Though I didn't know this man, yesterday I rode in his honor and memory. Thank you for your service.

I wanted to express my sincere condolences and sadness over SSG Lawson's death. As a military family member, I understand the ultimate sacrifice that he made for all of us. He deserves and has my utmost respect and appreciation. My thoughts and prayers are with his family on this day and those ahead. May God bless and comfort you.
