I want to send my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Blackmon Huckabee. I attended WFU and met Blackmon when I was a rather shy, pimply faced freshman going through the Sig Ep fraternity rush process. Blackmon and I struck up a long conversation at a rush event and I found Blackmon to be an extremely intelligent and charismatic guy - just the type of person I wanted to be around. Very similar to some of the other older Sig Eps I met - guys like Farrell and Ainsworth. I was not exactly an overwhelming "admit" candidate to a fraternity at that time. I later found out that Blackmon vouched for me in the recruitment meetings and played a large role in my acceptance into Sig Ep. I really enjoyed getting to know him better as I pledged Sig Ep and the rest, as they say, is history. The last 3.5 years of my time at WFU as a member of Sig Ep were some of the best of my life, as I built lasting friendships that endure to this day. In short, Blackmon's interest in me changed the trajectory of my life in a large way. He was a great man and will be missed.
