Walter Wilson CovingtonROCK HILL - Mr. Walter "Duck" Wilson Covington, 74, of 5050 Hampton Ridge Road, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at CMC-Main, Charlotte, N.C. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Allison Creek Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the services. A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Covington was the son of the late George Clarence Covington Sr. and Dora Carothers Covington. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a past employee of the Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co. for more than 27 years, later retiring from Springs Industries. He also worked for York County at several Convenient Centers. He loved to fish and was a lifelong member of Allison Creek Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Lois Smith Covington; three sons, Brad Covington (Karen), Roger Covington, and Nathan Covington; four brothers, Mike Covington (Judy), George C. Covington Jr. (Barbara), Bill Covington (Peggy) and Sam Covington (Joyce); two sisters, Lucille Copeland and Judy Rodgers; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Covington. Memorials may be made to a Hospice of one's choice or Allison Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 5780 Allison Creek Rd., York, SC 29745. DuPre and I thought the world of Walt. He was a joy to work with at RHP&F. We have been away from Rock Hill for 24 years so have missed keeping in touch. Prayers are with you all.

Sorry to hear about Duck. Heard about it to late to come to service. One memory I have is we were at Cresent Beach and up walks Duck while we were sitting on beach. He has a watermelon at his place. He couldn't go get it and come back any faster just to share it with Tom,Dean,Beth and me. Just an all around GOOD Guy!

Mr. Covington was a joy to know. His smile and friendly greeting was always a bright spot of my day when he was working at the Conveneint Center. We have truly lost a real gentleman!
