I met Maureen at a poetry conference in Washington DC more than 25 years ago. The conference was disappointing , so Maureen and my mother and I spent much of the time playing trivial pursuit, talking and laughing. We stayed in touch and visited after she moved to Florida ( as I was from Miami) she was funny and sensitive. I still have some of her poems, one which is both a reflection on returning from The Vietnam war and reflective of her love of Native American ritual. She was a great comfort to me when my mother passed and I hope over the years I was able to bring her some joy and comraderie. We could not have been more different but I think it is a testament to us both that we maintained such a happy friendship. Although I knew due to medical issues she was no longer on facebook for many months, I was not aware until today that she had passed in November. I wish all her loved one the best and condolences on her loss.

Maureen was my sister from another mother. We had 45 years of laughter, tears and adventures. She was a great lady.
