Bill was one of my mentors and his passing leaves a void in my life. He criticized, praised and encouraged me. My heartfelt sympathies to his family. The study of marine bioacoustics won't be the same without him!

Bill was always a very special person to us. He was one of those people you can have a lively conversation with and learn from, he was filled to the brim with information that was always interesting.
He was always very kind to us, he was always helping us sell computers to the places he worked, we will never forget that. What an amazing man, and amazing life he lead. We will miss you, Doug and Amelia Manning.

Bill has always been a very caring and friendly companion to my mother since they first met some 17 years ago. They have had fun traveling both domestically and abroad and enjoyed dining out and taking in numerous performances and events as a couple. Bill was always very kind and interesting to be with when I visited them in Sarasota and when they came to visit me here in Washington state. Bill's retirement activities at the Mote Marine aquarium were fascinating as were his stories of his life experiences and scientific pursuits. We had many good times together and we will miss him.

We will miss Bill, our past president, board member, and computer whiz volunteer. Bill was instrumental in updating our database and computer record keeping system and was always there when we needed him.
